the local broadcasting revenue is what will make or break the Cubs from a financial standpoint. they want to show their current partners and potential future partners how high their ratings can be.

Oh it's my choice. The firm is [expletive] paying for it, not me. They'd pay for the conference hotel.I like sitting in the bar watching whatever sports are on tv at the end of the day. You can't do that as easily in a fancy hotel full of horsefeathers lawyers. But it's SF, none of the hotels are exactly cheap. The only reason I mentioned it is a cubs t-shirt doesn't really stand out if I'm walking through the holiday inn lobby. But I'm glad we've thoroughly dissected another throw away line here. At your meetings, when one of the attendees asks, "did you attend harvard or yale?" please answer, "No, but I did stay at a holiday inn express last night."

going to a conference with lawyers at an expensive hotel but then having to leave that hotel to stay at a more budget friendly establishment is about the exact opposite of a humblebrag. badger, apologize to this man.

I think it was specifically about the "expensive hotel" portion of the comment, rather than the hanging with lawyers thing.

I really don't understand your problem with this. I get that people often use stupid filters to talk about random Kurkjian factoids, but if you admit that sub 2 is cool and leading the league is cool then I do not see what the problem is with pointing out the very small number of cubs who have led the league with a sub 2.

why? If lots of guys did it but didn't lead the league maybe that shows you it was relatively easy to do in those years. sub 2 and leading league is cool

A lot of that is smoke and mirrors, ask Russell Wilson. Their line has been trash so far this year. also GB has had trash OL from time to time. You don't need an awesome line. But you do need to give your QB either a plathora of skill position players or a great offensive line. You can't be weak on the line and have marginal skill position players. One or two talents isn't enough. -

In the case of Angelo, they went several years w/o even taking OL in first 3-4 rounds, and made due with signing 29-33 y/o vets. In recent years emery took a guard, which aren't as important, and pace has also emphasized interior. You have to actually draft top tackles if you want a stable line. -
Earliest it would be is late afternoon. But they want all games in prime time if possible so it will be a night game.

I've gotta say, I'm pretty surprised to hear that you're choosing a Kanye concert over a Cubs playoff game David. Especially this Cubs team. kanye concerts happen every few years. there will be many playoff games. especially silly division series ones. made these plans and bought the tickets months ago and i'm not gonna bail on a group of 7 other people like some kind of weirdo because i have to watch a baseball game. 'a baseball game'? Go screw. We knew they'd be playing October baseball a year ago, let alone months.

im not the least bit happy with what he's done but I don't think you can compare it to the hendry situation. Jim had plenty of time to prove his failings. Pace should theoretically be more capable of adapting to modernity. But football isn't the straight up numbers game that baseball is. It's a very different situation -
