  1. And you're "educated" guess still isn't enough reason to not consider a trade. It would be managerial malpractice to preemptively refuse a conversation. That's the point.
  2. that beer brand was going out of business before that happened.
  3. same reason i didn't want to trade baez last offseason the market isn't always right. soler's value is at a low point and he has upside. not to mention the thing most are talking about trading him for, young pitching, is still very overvalued. you have no idea what the market is
  4. I could spin it the other way too, You could but you'd be completely off base and would sound silly. There is a trade him if you can get something argument and a no we can't trade him because he's valuable but won't get us anything argument. The rational one is to consider a trade if you can find something. Preemptively refusing to trade him because you assume you can't get anything is just weird. This isn't like some stock where you choose to sell at the current price and voila he's gone and you're locked in at that price. Nobody is pushing for them to get rid of soler at all costs. Trading Soler is an option the Cubs have when reconfiguring their roster this winter and it's an option they should consider. End of story.
  5. why do people insist on saying soler is valuable to the cubs but he cannot bring back value in a trade?
  6. That's not really a thing, especially if Fowler leaves. Even if he stays there's enough PAs/platoon situations to take advantage of. If Fowler stays, it's a thing with Schwarber's return. Getting Bryant, Zobrist, Baez, Contreras and Schwarber all in the same lineup would be extremely difficult. And that's not including Soler either. It definitely gets easier if Fowler is gone and Heyward is in CF. it won't be a problem when soler is on the DL for 3 months.
  7. I still love the Blackhawks but early season hockey remains a bore and I'm really glad the Cubs are here to distract me since I know the Bears won't be come November.
  8. The preferred nomenclature is optically challenged.
  9. He also could have had a lefty facing heyward with bases loaded and a gidp or shallow pop the inevitable outcome.

  11. he is joe buck's hair apparent
  12. those tech nerds are probably hiding out on the dark net somehwere
  13. Wait, what? How can they just not sell ANY tickets to the general public? That's really hard to fathom happening. well, I mean you've got season tickets holders and then all the variations of season tickets packages, so there isn't a whole lot to go around.

  16. He should've called me I could've helped out I don't get it
  17. that's got to be a tough way to follow the game
  18. yeah, sure he got loud for the big plays and rightfully praised Baez. But several times he referred to Almora "failing" to make what was an impossible play and needing to redeem himself and it wasn't until the very end that the tone shifted from the giants being an unstoppable force and the Cubs being lucky to be on the field with them. Like all national broadcasters he fell back hard on the Cubs are the Cubs storyline as if they weren't the 103 win team this year.

  20. Can someone please link me to instances of racism from Bumgarner? Strickland's is well-known but googling Bumgarner racist just brings links to asinine comments from Dodger fans bumgarner is notorious for jabbering with players who display any sort of joy, many, if not most of which have been the Latin players. It's not overt racism along the lines of a clevenger but combined with his hick persona it's really not hard to put 2 and 2 together.
  21. Gotta say... it's a little bit weird that you know your co-worker's preferred weight range. we're good friends (at least as far as coworkers go). we talk about all kinds of horsefeathers. also we had a weight loss competition type thing once with a bunch of us. and how much RAM did you shed?
  22. We got through 12 innings despite using 5 of our relievers(including one who could be a long-man)for a combined 2 innings. We don't need an 8th reliever. I'm open to the argument that taking Hammel as a long reliever frees up Montgomery to be used to slay lefties, which is a feature for all the NL teams. I'm also perfectly comfortable with all our RHRP facing lefties too, but there's value in putting the hitter at his platoon disadvantage. I wouldn't be shocked if Hammel was added due to Hendricks getting beat up, Arrieta effectively being a 6 inning guy, Lackey disappointing and the fact it is a 7 game series. You don't need as many arms in a 5 game. I'd like to keep the extra bat though. Bats are more fun.
