  1. I don't want the next qb starting until the O line is 1000% better so I definitely want jay next year. But that ship has probably passed.
  2. My feelings on Fangio is he would have to be doing a much better job and/or be much younger, for me to worry about losing him in any coaching change situation. Since going to the Fox/Fangio set up, the Bears have prioritized defense, acquiring 7,000 linebackers, as well as 5 of their first 6 picks last year were defense. And all we have to show for it is the defense looks competent most of the time. I say you fire Fox and then figure out Fangio's future after you hire the next HC. If he stays, he stays, and if he goes he goes. So be it. But it's not like this guy is working miracles over here and can't be replaced.
  3. Keeping Pace is almost a must, considering the dangers of falling into the massive overhaul every 2 years. I can't imagine the coaching staff surviving intact, and there has to be a good chance that Fox is part of that change. I think with as poorly as this season has gone, the most obvious choice is for Pace to get his one head coach mulligan. Let him make that change and theoretically build the staff he wants, without the tumult of his first year on the job. That gives him 2 more years and if he can't figure out how to make this team respectable by then, there's no excuse from there. Pace has been disappointing, but he's been competent. Fox has been a disaster and he's old so might as well move on.
  4. https://youtu.be/JSUIQgEVDM4 The Bears are a 3.5 point underdog to the Titans, which were a joke of a franchise up until about week 5 this year. And they have been alternating wins and losses ever since. The Bears are a mess. Not a lot of good players, a whole bunch of injured players. David Fales is back. He was Trestman's pet project and once the canadian nerd was fired from Baltimore, Fales future was in doubt. But you can always count on the Bears to have a desperate need for QB depth late in a season. To my dearest, Jay Cutler: This is the end Beautiful friend This is the end My only friend, the end Of our elaborate plans, the end Of everything that stands, the end No safety or surprise, the end I'll never look into your eyes...again Can you picture what will be So limitless and free Desperately in need...of some...stranger's hand In a...desperate land Lost in a Roman...wilderness of pain And all the children are insane All the children are insane Waiting for the summer rain, yeah There's danger on the edge of town Ride the King's highway, baby Weird scenes inside the gold mine Ride the highway west, baby Ride the snake, ride the snake To the lake, the ancient lake, baby The snake is long, seven miles Ride the snake...he's old, and his skin is cold The west is the best The west is the best Get here, and we'll do the rest The blue bus is callin' us The blue bus is callin' us Driver, where you taken' us The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on He took a face from the ancient gallery And he walked on down the hall He went into the room where his sister lived, and...then he Paid a visit to his brother, and then he He walked on down the hall, and And he came to a door...and he looked inside Father, yes son, I want to kill you Mother...I want to...horsefeathers you C'mon baby, take a chance with us C'mon baby, take a chance with us C'mon baby, take a chance with us And meet me at the back of the blue bus Doin' a blue rock On a blue bus Doin' a blue rock C'mon, yeah Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill This is the end Beautiful friend This is the end My only friend, the end It hurts to set you free But you'll never follow me The end of laughter and soft lies The end of nights we tried to die This is the end
  5. word is cutler may be done for season with shoulder injury
  6. they were in danger of ruining their draft position and made an adjustment that prevented that in second half.
  7. I remember the last 2, but I apparently missed the physical appearance black thing. I've seen it referenced over the years but had no idea where it came from. Link? http://www.northsidebaseball.com/archive/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=47184&hilit=physical+appearance+black&start=100#p1692053
  8. Kris Bryant is a very dull human, but I'm fine with that.
  9. original thread title was better
  10. oh i'd want to see it. but it would be weird. and he'll probably get killed. If he dies, he dies. But the tackle situation couldn't be worse than it is. The Bears will be strong up the middle at the very least. You mean like how they were totally fine and set this year?
  11. We know who has Jed hoyers Twitter account
  12. Nah dude, don't you read Mets Refugees. All they need is to resign Cespedes and get all their pitchers back (who for sure are staying healthy this time because reasons) and they are gonna own us. Text from Mets fan before game 7: "Good luck. Would rather see the Cubs win. You have 1 shot before the Mets pitchers all come back healthy!!!" Me: "Pitchers don't come back healthy" Him: "The Mets are never healthy..."
  13. I don't know about any "limbo" scenario. I think he's traded in the offseason, or not at all. If anyone trades for him as a rental at the deadline, then they're in the race, and we might be facing him in the offseason...so dealing him at the deadline when we're trying to win it all again is counter-intuitive. If someone like the Braves wants to pretend like they have an outside chance of making the wild card this year (like AZ last year or SD the year before), then sure, deal him in the offseason. You don't tend to have people willing to trade away anything legit after pipe dreams at the end of June. He's referring to the other team having the option of keeping Arrieta all year or trading him at the deadline, not the Cubs. The Cubs would only trade him midseason if they are looking to be out the race.

  17. I'd love to make that trip. What's it like being an away fan at Fenway? it probably isn't too bad unless you're in full yankees gear I think in general non-"rivalry" interleague matchups are fairly tame in all parks. I would assume there is going to be a couple A-holes jealous of the Cubs being the newer story and wanting to lash out, but by and large it shouldn't be an issue. I haven't been to Fenway in years though.
  18. eh, GB is screwing up its own season.
  19. But the Browns have been the Browns for 2.5 decades. The Browns would kill for the Bears stability and success.
  20. Sure the election was a disaster for many disenfranchised Americans, but won't somebody think of me, the upper middle class straight white guy who has to attend this game? I'm wearing Cubs gear. The Bears are 7 point dogs, and at the risk of saying something profound, that's the point where they either lose by 20 or pull off a surprise win. Cutler was absolutely terrible last game, which is also when he goes out and pulls off miracle wins (at least in my memory). The defense looked good at times. The Giants are in danger of winning 5 games in a row and going 4 games over .500 and that is just not something this team does, and hasn't done in the regular season since the beginning of 2009. New York goes back to back with the Bears and Browns and follow it up with the incredibly mediocre Steelers. They have to be feeling pretty good about their chances to make up ground before facing Dallas again and it would just be fun to not let that happen. The high draft pick is already a lock at this point. I'm not seeing the urgency to lock in a top 2 pick. Just win this win and lose as many others as you want and I will consider this a fun time. Or just lose, I really don't care. There all is aching.
  21. They've had very good teams during that period. It's not going to take 6-7 years to be good again. This isn't baseball. I have no idea what you mean by "haven't even started trying to find their QB". It doesn't do you any good to get your QB and throw him to the wolves with a horsefeathers team. It's much better to have a very good offensive line and solid weapons and then add a QB. Dak Prescott wouldn't be doing dick without the team he lucked into.
  22. How do you tie in football?
  23. He's probably hoping that if he has a repeat year, the Phillies will deal him at the deadline so there's no QO next year. QO system won't be a part of next CBA.
