  1. do you know why? The Cubs won the world series last year.
  2. yes https://twitter.com/IowaCubsGameDay/status/859519074409304065
  3. Yeah, who would want a QB next year, what with that class being universally considered to be far better than this year? I wanted one of them next year too. I think there'll be multiple guys expected to be better than Trubisky. But, its immaterial, if Pace thinks Trubisky is a franchise guy himself.(which he does) He took a chance now, instead of waiting and running into a chance that the Bears can't find a way to move up to get one of them or they don't wind up developing as expected. If he's wrong, he's fired. If we DO wind up in a position to draft one next year, he'll get a true haul for trading out of the pick. As others have pointed out, if you are the GM and you think this guy is the guy, you cannot pass on him and wait til next year. Who the hell knows where you're even drafting next year. If you're like me, and have doubts about a guy, then you think about next year's draft as an option, but not if you really like this guy.
  4. Because they're really pumped over getting out of that? Calm down, Buzz. He would hate 15 Cubs players if he was a fan of another team. "would"
  5. I continue to be blown away with how consistently good he looks. he's young, in 30-40 years he'll lose a lot of that beauty
  6. my mind is blown
  7. The idea that Glennon may play at a pro bowl level is funny enough on its own, but he frames that as the risk of starting Glennon over Trubisky, as if that would somehow be bad.
  8. Seems to me that would have been a good place to compare velocities of non-Cubs pitchers at Wrigley and away from Wrigley.
  9. I had a vague sense of liking Trubisky after reading about him going back a couple months and am perfectly happy with him going forward. I remain highly skeptical of Pace's ability to surround Trubisky with a good team, which is how Seattle and Dallas helped their young guys succeed so early. And I really don't think Fox is the right head coach to develop the guy. I'm just going to treat 2017 as no expectations, expect fun bad (holy crap if butt fumble plays a lot, can you imagine?). Will Fox go off script and demand Mitch play early on at the first sign of Glennon being Glennon? Everybody is playing nice now, but there is high probability of things getting ugly between Pace, Fox, Dowell, Glennon and Trubisky and this doesn't even take into account the potential for offense vs defense mutiny. I'd put my money on Vic surviving that battle.
  10. the bears have to be pretty damn happy with how titillated the chicago media is with the new king
  11. why didn't I realize Pace had a 5 year deal? That even further solidifies the idea he will get a chance to hire 1 more head coach after Fox. Trubisky does not need to be a stud for Pace to stay on past 2018. He's going to get paid in 2019 anyway and will probably get an extension after this year that will line him up with whatever the next coach gets, unless Trubisky absolutely falls on his face before then. He just needs to look capable to play NFL football to keep Pace around. I still think it'll be tricky to fire Fox, while giving Pace an extension, on some level. Fox "retiring" seems like the best way out, in my mind. As far as Trubisky goes, over/under 100 passes thrown in 2017? I believe they will go with the "mutual decision to go in another direction" approach. Fox will get paid to not coach in 2018, when he'll be 63 and coming off three straight crappy seasons. Fox would theoretically be available for another job, if there was a talented veteran team that needed a stable coach. But my guess is he'll ride into the sunset and fish with all the other guys while making occasional TV gigs (if those still exist by then).

  13. Nashville may not get the nation excited, but I'd think the NHL would be happy solidifying that franchise and building goodwill among those fans. It can pay dividends down the road.
  14. Deleted...what'd it say? he took a screenshot on his phone but the headphone volume display covered the text
  15. nobody is actually a capitals fan
  16. The NHL is probably thrilled at the potential of Canadian teams in the SCF. They're falling over themselves begging for the scenario. I would think they'd be thrilled with PIT/NYR vs EDM, and okay with the Ducks but extremely disappointed in any of the other teams. EDM has the allure of the historical franchise with ties to Gretzky, but they aren't going to be happy with Ottawa. Nobody cares a bit about Ottawa.
  17. definitely excited about the potential with this guy and have no knock on it, but I think it's kind of hysterical that in the analysis of the pick before Jackson, this guy mentions how the most important ability is availability and that's what matters above all else, but when talking about Jackson he dismisses the fact that he missed half the season and was rehabbing while others were doing workouts and climbing the board and the only thing that matters is how well he played when he was on the field.
  18. exactly my thought when I saw those earlier.
  19. Another in a long line of stupid quotes by Bears media. They didn't give up "2 third round picks and a fourth round pick for a quarterback."
