Yeah, the whole concept of travel teams and all that is just so icky to me, it's one of my favorite part of having only daughters who so far seem happy to just play some recreation league sports for the fun of it.

Farrell had lost the players if Pedroia's comments were any indication. Matheny may have lost the fans, but I don't think he's lost his players. I think Matheny has lost some of the players. he's still got the whites -

he was a garbage 2nd round pick.Maybe one day he'll get into the rotation but he was drafted in the 2nd round by a team with many holes and no weapons and he can't see the field. That's bad.

If this is true, that team is soft as hell. First off it's baseball, so softness is on a sliding scale. Second, pitchers knowing when they aren't good to go and acknowledging it, is a good thing. They need to win 2 games and if he feels he'll be better in game 5 that's not bad calculus. Three, I don't completely disagree with you.

I have to imagine the reason is he's not any good. This far along into a season with no offensive weapons, if he could play he would be playing.

Yep. 100% of Fox. When you have a severe lack of talent vs. every team you face you can't make stupid mistakes like that. So many points left on the board. Obviously 7 from the Howard TD. At least 3 on the 1st drive. Granted, those 10 points would have meant no fake punt TD, but also would have meant a defense pinning their ears back with a double digit lead early against first an injured, then a mediocre QB. I'm kinda curious as to how we reconcile the Bears being such absitely devoid of talent relative to every team they play while having such a terrible coach, and them being in games to the end. I mean, it's obvious Fox is dumb, but the players have talent or they wouldn't be in the position they were in yesterday. So can we end this narrative about the Bears having no talent? They need a WR or two. They have talent at QB, both lines, and RB, but they have no talented players whose primary skill is catching the ball, and extremely limited talent among the group of people whose job it is to prevent the other team from catching the ball.

These things in particular are par for the course with the Bears the past couple years. On the few times they do seem to put a drive together, they usually get a holding call to stall it and then follow it up with some 5 yard penalty to take them out of FG range.

yep yep yep. I think we underestimated just how bad this entire offense is, and kind of feel bad for things I said about Glennon, but not really because he actually is terrible. This offense is trash and the rest of the year is about hoping Mitch doesn't get hurt and that Pace actually has an idea for who the next coach will be. Also, in just 2-4 more drafts he might be able to field a decent team.

Dude - all season long I've been arguing for the total results to date. Through five games I'm presenting stats for the entire season. Initially, you said that I was only looking at one game even though I always used season to date stats. But you want to discuss individual games now? Okay. How did that performance against Tampa rank? You know, the one where they rushed 16 times for 20 yards. I'll wait while you look up Tampa's other opponents. if you're going to argue total results, you can't do it, yet. You want to look at small sample sizes, so I'm looking at small sample sizes. In 3 of their 5 games, they've rushed for the most single game yards and ypc than any of those teams have allowed to the other teams on their schedule. the other two games were blowouts and over in the first quarter. I'm confident that the Bears will be a top 5 rushing offense at the end of the season and 3-13. -
