George Halas died in 1983. That was about 3 generations of nfl football ago. The bears of the past 20 years have spent money. They’ve paid salaries to multiple head coaches simultaneously pretty much half the time since Lovie was canned. They pay guaranteed money to players from other teams that can’t get that money. They’ve upgraded facilities as well as just about anybody out there. they spend, full stop. It’s just a tired untrue silly complaint that doesn’t match up with what has gone down.

I think Nagy has a chance to learn from his mistakes. His two big problems were he came to a team with a QB he knew was dumb and he overreacted to the double doink with the absolutely ridiculous kicker competition that took time and focus away from actually improving the team. I think he could have learned some things. Whether he did or not is questionable. in general I like the concept of coordinators in their second HC opportunity. McCarthy is fine. He’d be the best offensive coach in bears history and probably capable of making this team respectable and at times dangerous. He’s most likely not getting them over any big humps though. He’d be a better John Fox. -

They had chances to add to the team and chose not to. They took multiple off seasons off and are paying the price. Losing on purpose is disgraceful and having it blow up in your face is good. Most teams fail miserably at the tank and fans who apllaud them deserve to have their teams remain in the gutter.
