  1. Why would Stafford retirement affect the bears decision to try and get a coach?
  2. Ben Johnson’s greatest success has been with an okay veteran. There’s been suggestions he didn’t want Washington job because he preferred using a stable veteran rather than volatile young draft pick. He may not have any interest in coaching Caleb Williams. If that were true I’m not sure I’d be bummed about missing out on him. He could also prefer a situation where he can build a roster for 2 years then figure out a way to draft his own guy after he’s established a culture. Never underestimate the ego of a nfl head coach. They generally don’t like using others peoples players
  3. He chose to overpay Davis instead of keeping daniels, so it was hardly an investment. It was a bad swap. He thought he knew what made great linemen and was wrong. He’s not good at this job
  4. Seriously Ben Johnson could be amazing with a real QB
  5. Jared Goff is not a franchise QB
  6. Cubs traded for Tucker
  7. I think being the only team reported (that I know of) to have requested an interview with McCarthy while he was still under exclusive rights with Cowboys was a big tell. Why even request that one week before he would or would not be available without asking if not to send a message?
  8. Here is an objective response to that question
  9. I was extremely excited for the first 30 seconds of that video love the powder blue look. Once they actually displayed the full thing with the egregiously large Nike logo and goofy looking cub logo, not a fan.
  10. And maybe cash and jobs while we’re at it
  11. Mr Belvedere is waiting for him in heaven, where it is virtually impossible to sit on your own balls
  12. I didn’t say they wouldn’t take the job, I was pushing back at the idea that it’s more fun.
  13. There’s no way being a head coach is more fun than being an assistant. Head coaches have so many more obligations for their time than any assistant or coordinator. I think a huge number of these guys realize they aren’t head coach material. A few eventually get the job once and fail but ultimately settle into career coordinator types. I bet Vic Fangio is having more fun as eagles DC than he did as Denver HC. You get your bag from the one HC job and take a beating in reputation and get back to what you are good at, like Steve Spagnuolo, probably making more as a coordinator than he did as HC long ago.
  14. Blackhawks made a seemingly meaningless trade, defensemen Isaak Philllips for defensemen Dmitry Kuzmin. Chicago gets the slightly younger player who was drafted two rounds earlier (3 v 4) and one year later. Kuzmin is a buddy of first round pick Levahunov, who was bench this past week for missing a team meeting.
  15. Resigning your own guy is very different than signing another teams guy
  16. The athletic’s latest two round mock has the bears going OT (Josh Simmons OSU), OG/C (Wyatt Milum WV), EDGE* (Landon Jackson Arkansas) in the first three picks Seems like a logical order of picks for their needs but Poles doesn’t draft logically so who knows * I hate the term EDGE but I guess we have to use it
  17. Another game another multi goal deficit. Mrazek has given up five goals on 26 shots. Bedard has a goal and his 100th point.
  18. It’s been a couple decades since Dallas had the pick of the litter as head coach.
  19. Jerry Jones GM
  20. Chicago is probably due for a great big fat person coach
  21. They’re interviewing Thomas Brown, they’ve requested interviews with Aaron Glenn and Brian Flores. I don’t really think Rooney rule stuff is at all in play with Rivera
  22. I’d probably be more happy with him than I was with Eberflus, Fox or Trestman. I think I was vaguely okay with Nagy but not enthusiastic. The first time I heard his Delaware valley accent I knew we were screwed as though So maybe Freeman would be the best of the post Lovie batch. But there’s huge questions about the staff he’d bring with. Presumably you’d need some big name experience NFL guys at coordinator spots. Like a Ron Rivera as DC, but who as OC?
  23. I would be extremely comfortable facing Love for the next 10 years.
