  1. thr opposite to slow and steady wins the race
  2. Damn, Mack is better then I knew.
  3. Way way too much. Machado got nowhere near that kind of package. Machado was traded at the deadline and Mookie is fat and away better. I think to get him in the offseason it takes around that. if he’s so fat at this young of an age I’d rather not give him a big contract
  4. The Blackhawks' forwards are ranked 18th, FWIW. That's just the forwards. Presumably the defense is ranked even lower? 18th equates to just missing the playoffs, which is more or less what is expected of this team.
  5. https://twitter.com/alex_kirshner/status/1177342386441261056
  6. For what it's worth, every minor league player today is more talented than any player you watched in the 50's.
  7. Can you post it here and spoiler it?
  8. is nico hoerner getting the respected vets' day off following elimination?
  9. well they won in 2015 and 2017. 3 times since 2003 2007 2015 2017 this man knows how to protect his house
  10. That, and not that it matters much but the Vikings always seem to lose at the new Soldier Field, maybe two wins off the top of my head. Bears 17 Vikings 16 well they won in 2015 and 2017.
  11. Didn't he drop a ton of weight to play TE and then got cut? Yes, he was cut a couple days ago.
  12. Bears resigned Bradley Sowell and cut Kerrith Whyte
  13. they are 15/16 right now. If they lose out the only realistic thing is they climb over the team they are tied with AZ, and maybe one other team, Philly. But Philly has to win out for that to happen.
  14. When I went in 2013, there was maybe 100 people there. And for the most part, it was player's family or scouts/MLB folks. And that was on Veteran's Day weekend. I can't be the only one who thinks the troops could put together a fall ball team that would outdraw the entire AFL.
  15. A) The player involved was no longer on the team when he returned. 2) He needed the money. #) He's into it.
  16. you figure out which game is which
  17. this was all discussed way back in spring training when it first went down.
  18. For those curious like I was, from reading the replies, the implication is that Julianna Zobrist = Cindy Sandberg lol - who is supposed to be Palmeiro?
  19. The Cubs have been stuck on 82 wins for what feels like 82 days. So in honor of that achievement, we've got some gems for you from the year the Cubs finished 73-89, falling short of the pythagorean record of 77-85, 1982: If you couldn't stay around for number 1, it was Let's Get Physical, which features a beautiful woman going through the motions of a fake workout routine, something very similar to the Cubs effort of late. https://youtu.be/6zwPVU92-XQ 1982 was the penultimate season of Lee Elia's tenure in Chicago, and was one year before his infamous rant. Jim Frey would replace him and lead the Cubs to the greatest season of a generation. I'm kind of wishing Joe Maddon would go on a rant similar to that, if not him then maybe Lester will. It's rare for a disastrous season such as this to not have some sort of epic meltdown and I feel like we're still waiting. Then again, maybe it already happened and I just didn't pay any attention.
  20. None of this really means anything to me, and if anything it's a negative, not a positive. Not that our press is full of intelligent writers who expect analytic based decisions, but I don't really need the David Ross love fest to actually impact the day to day decisions/coverage. You think the generally positive view of David Ross as a person will impact how Gordo or Sullivan covers the team or how the team operates on a day to day basis?
  21. 4 more after this upcoming season. 5 in total! 7 of 8 being awful! Joy! I'm surprised we're not seeing any of the "He's in the best shape of his life" type articles that usually accompany this level of under-performance. I guess they're going with "Maata will resurrect him" Not quite that, but "the best Brent Seabrook he can be" is kind of close
