  1. Peachtree pointed out that Soriano apologized to Lou after the inning and Lou nodded acceptance of the apology. It is not a big deal in the sense that it should be a story that lasts the rest of the year. But it was a big enough mistake that Brenly was more than right in criticizing Soriano. It was really bad.
  2. He's pointed out some stupid Theriot stuff. cubinny, you aren't making any sense. Soriano didn't think he hit a HR and end up with a double. He thought he hit a HR and ended up with a double. It's not a little thing. Soriano has multiple times watched doubles and ended up having to slide into what should have been a stand-up double. This was different, he didn't even get to 2nd. It is a big deal, and it is absolutely ridiculous that people are downplaying and acting like Bob is in the wrong for complaining.
  3. Bob's a dick. He's all about that old school nonsense. I wouldn't call him a dick, but he does lay into Cubs players a little too much at times. Especially players that have such a huge impact on how well we play... Oh please. He lays into guys who do stupid/lazy things.
  4. Bob's a dick. He's all about that old school nonsense. I'd have taken some of that old school nonsense just there. Sometimes he's right. Yeah, Brenly is right if that's what he said. Soriano deserves to get ripped.
  5. It probably means he's unavailable Thursday, Friday and Saturday, which would make it even more likely he starts Sunday. 3 days rest if he only throws 40-50 pitches is no big deal. Piggyback him with Marshall and you have two guys who should combine for 100 quality pitches on Sunday without extending them beyond their capabilities. Soriano, you idiot.
  6. Might not need one. If things work out as planned, you can go with Shark the rest of this game, then Harden/Marshall/Wood or Marmol. Then tomorrow you have Gaudin/Howry/Cotts/Wood or Marmol fresh. You might see a Samardzija/Marshall piggyback on Sunday.
  7. I'm guessing Lou hopes to get three innings out of him.
  8. Unless he's planning on extending Harden in the 2nd due to his extra rest and the fact that his last start was "only" 93 pitches.
  9. 5th best ERA in the NL. He might be right, but I don't think he was underselling. What I hated was Chip saying, "This is what you wonder about the Chicago Cubs. What do you think about the bullpen?" That insinuated the bullpen is a huge problem and has been their achilles heal. It's not a great bullpen, but it's pretty darn good.
  10. Lou playing the "win the one you know you can win" strategy here. I'd rather keep Marquis in for the bottom of the order.
  11. I said that earlier. How can that kid not run out of air or be tired shouting every 25 seconds. He really needs to get kicked in the head I believe it's a girl.
  12. peachtree is doing a whole bunch of skip caray stuff, showing some of his flubs and whatnot, and now they are doing some Harry Caray ones.
  13. he's sucked, but Kosuke has had some decent PAs today, and his first and third outs were fairly hard hit balls.
  14. I'm listening to the Braves' broadcast on XM, and I keep hearing some little kid in the background constantly yelling "Come on, Cubbies!" in a very annoying high-pitched voice. I'm happy there's a young Cubs fan there that's enthusiastic about the game, but I'd hate to be sitting next to him. I'm watching peachtree tv and you can hear that girl too. The tv guys have been making fun of her. FYI, yes, the radio guys voices keep showing up on the tv broadcast, and it happens whenever they show the radio guys on the screen.
  15. Is a 6 run lead big enough with Marquis pitching? You never know, but the offense should still be able to scratch across another run or three even if Marquis gets sloppy.
  16. Who would sit Edmonds the rest of this game to keep him rested for tonight? I would strongly consider it.
  17. If he got tossed for arguing the timing of Joe West ordering the lights turned on, it sounds like he has a legitimate case here. From the way it was described on the radio, it sounds like the pitcher had just finished up his warm-up tosses and was ready to go when the ump came out and ordered the lights to be turned on. He should have had them turned on immediately after the previous inning ended. Except for the fact that Atlanta screwed with Marquis the inning before. It was makeup call more or less.
  18. It was fun 5 years ago with a cubs hat in your hand
  19. He can say it, but he can't really follow through with the threat. They need to push Marquis as far as they can today.
  20. I need peachtree tv to focus in on the fine peaches behind home plate
  21. Looked to me like Marshall was warming in the pen. I would have thought he'd be saved for tonight. Whatever happens, I just hope Lou doesn't try and push Harden to make up for potential bullpen overusage.
  22. internet tv says otherwise. He's missing by very wide margins.
  23. not a chance. Theriot with an f-bomb after striking out. You can hear every conversation in the stadium right now - unfortunately that includes the horrible Atlanta announcers.
  24. No reason why not, but who knows if they would. Hopefully this is a game Marquis comes up big. He can occasionally go 8 strong and surprise people.
