  1. It's not every day you can pull within 4 games of .500. You should celebrate that.
  2. I find that hard to believe. If Urlacher had to miss time, I would much rather take our chances with Briggs at MLB and let one of the youngsters fill in for Briggs on the outside than give the most important defensive position on the field to Hunter. I wasn't aware of the salary hit, which must be the only explanation for him to still be on the roster. Briggs should not be the first choice to play middle if Urlacher goes down.
  3. Did Jackson sleep with that person's wife?
  4. So is there any word on what the deal was with Jackson? I made a joke about the bird thing a while back but the move to AAA kind of makes it look a little more possible that there was an issue that is keeping him out of Tennessee specifically. He didn't whistle at the wrong woman did he? I'll bet 10 cyber dollars it has something to do with Sandberg or Lewallyn (Smokies pitching coach). Oh yeah, Sandberg sounds like the right choice. It was a "team rules" issue, no?

  6. Hunter is a special teams guy? For some reason I'm drawing a blank on picturing him out there. I think he's here because he'd be a $4.65m cap hit if cut this year. He's signed through 2011, so I think next year is the first year he won't cost more as a cut than as an active player.
  7. Is this post for real? Are you that big of a biggot? Go back to your Klan meeting. I think your meth pot is boiling over. Seemed like an obvious joke to me.
  8. Since A) The Broncos were idiots for worrying about Cutler, and B) THE BEARS FINISHED 9-7 LAST YEAR! I can sort of understand why people would question if Cutler is good enough to make a team better, but why the hell do people insist on asking if he's mature enough? Seriously, maturity has nothing to do with it. Philips Rivers is an absolute child and his team has won a lot of games. Favre was never the most mature even when he was at his best. Brady and Manning can be described as mature super-stars, but maturity is not a necessary attribute for a successful QB, unless you are talking about physical maturity.
  9. He is now, and the Bears should be making that call. Jeff Garcia believes he is still a starter in this league, so I doubt he'll even listen to a call from the Bears. Not only that but I really don't want Cutler to have another pissy fit like he had in Denver. Jeff Garcia is no Matt Cassell but I still wouldn't take that risk. Pissy fit? Bringing in a backup is nothing like looking to trade away your starter while trading for another starter.
  10. Is this even something that's coming up? Who is on the Cubs now or was on them in recent history who was openly or busted as being racist? And how is Bradley a "distraction" to anyone besides the fans and the media? Are people really thinking that other players on the team are somehow doing poorly because they have Bradley or his comments on their mind? Supposedly team chemistry isn't very good and nothing like it was last season (forget where I read this at). In general teams are affected by having to answer questions about teammates who are doing dumb stuff off the field. And no I'm not saying that is why the Cubs are losing. However I do want my teams to be able to concentrate solely on baseball and not be forced to answer questions that don't really have anything to do with the game. Will you get pissed if they ask Lee about his baby? They aren't asking questions during the game. There is 24 hours in the day and a position player spends about 10 minutes actually playing in a game. They don't just concentrate on baseball.
  11. Team, conference or NCAA?
  12. I think they have to sign a RB. They had to know about Jones before cutting Rideau, right? Peterson and Wolfe just can't cut it as backups. Forte needs to be able to sit more this year than he did last, or else he isn't going to make it through his rookie contract. Who's out there for backup running duties? Edgerrin got signed, right? No idea, but I'd guess they would have to look at guys other teams try to put on practice squads or undrafted free agents. Peterson and Wolfe are a couple carries per game guys, that's fine if Forte is healthy. But if he has to miss a game here or there I think they have to have a 3rd backup to help carry the load. Might as well try and get the best guy you can find now and get him familiarized.

  14. Are they announcing them one at a time?
  15. Are you paying attention at all? How has Bradley had pitiful production? When you build a team of 30-something players with injury histories, you have to expect injuries will be a problem.
  16. Haha, wow.. that would be.... I would probably put my head through a window. A total blowout -- usually not as painful as losing in the final seconds. At least for me. I'm known to actually start laughing when it gets to a certain point. That is true. But a 77 point loss on opening night on nat tv to a divisonal rival... man that would just suck. 77-0, 26-0, it's all the same once you get to that level.
  17. That would be the third this preseason? That has to be unprecedented. Runaway egotism or willingness to admit a mistake? I think it's ego in the case of Haley. Or just a bad fit with a holdover. Unless it's just a smear campaign, Morris just made a big mistake and they were willing to admit it. Jauron is on the hot seat this year and knows it. I'm guessing he's panicking a little or it was a move ordered from above. Jauron didn't want another Shoop situation I guess.
  18. Probably because you can only do that with 2 west coast teams and nobody really watches it anyway.
  19. Well nevermind then. I don't see how you could come to that conclusion.
  20. Pretty sure that's not even close to true. I think he's talking about davenport iowa, not this board.

  22. I asked Bruce Miles about that and he said:
  23. I've seriously been turned down by about 20 people, some of them actual Mets fans, to use the tickets, and they are really good seats.
  24. Please show me the time Bradley cried to the media about fans being racist. I don't want to split hairs, but this comment while not coming out and stating that Cubs fans are racist, I think his intent is pretty clear: "America doesn't believe in racism. All I'm saying is I just pray the game is nine innings, so I can be out there the least amount of time as possible and go home." - Milton Bradley Right. That was his response to a reporter asking him if the mistreatment he received (in his mind, anyway) was due to racism. I definitely don't see how this constitutes "crying to the media about fans being racist." He cried to the media about hatred while being intentionally vague and the obvious question was does that mean race is involved. The media didn't bait him. He brought up the hatred idea. Up until that point he had a couple guys in the media, namely Kaplan and Stone, who ragged on him constantly, and a handful of fans giving him a hard time. Since that time it's been horrible. But he brought the whole thing up in the first place.
