you didn't post ONCE in the college baseball thread last year. I'd guarantee you that if this thread were in this forum, it would have more than 9 pages over a six month period like the last baseball thread had. That's probably wrong because nobody gives a crap about college baseball. Put it wherever you like, but the same 8 people are going to be the only ones discussing it.

Doesn't sound like he was involved with Vick, unless you mean his brother: If 2006 was his first year in Minny, after 4 in VT, that would put his arrival there in 2002. http://www.vikings.com/team/coaches/kevin-rogers/98211720-e194-4fbf-ac70-9a7d2bb32aad This guy is in his late 50's and has a very weak resume. Why in the world are they even considering him?
You'd be lucky to have 10 of them in the majors, let alone all on the Cubs. If that happens some of those guys will be dealt by then. That's 10 pre free agency guys right there, likely an incredibly cost effective ballclub. The Cubs currently have what, 4-5 guys on their team now who were in the system 5 years ago? I'd like to think they have 2 position players that will be real contributors by then, and 2-3 more pitchers.
I didn't say anything about scouting reports, I said you glossing over the big reason why he's considered a likely reliever just doesn't make any sense. He's not at all comparable to Zambrano who had a much, much, much greater starter's resume up to similar points in their career.
Really no way? really? I guess you have a crystal ball in your room i'm guessing. The guy is making a guess at what could happen. Its definitely a possibility, its all based on potential, it either pans out or it doesn't, so yes, it is a possibility. Yeah, and it's an extremely unlikely overly enthusiastic guess that is very similar to ones many people have made before.
I really think best bet is he starts in minors and waits until Ramirez gets hurt. There isnt' a good reason for him to make the team out of spring training unless there's an injury.
It started out looking a lot like last year's ridiculous blowout at Edmonton, as the Oilers barely belonged on the ice. The Hawks went flat and things got mildly interesting, but they seemed to at least control the game throughout. How much of the Hawks going flat do you believe is saving themselves for the playoffs? I think we've been seeing a little more of this lately, with teams coming back in the later portion of the game after the Hawks have a big lead. At this point I can accept a little throttling to save players. It's all about the playoffs for this team. But I don't know if that's really what is happening. I think it has a lot more to do with playing every other night (when not playing back to back), being on a long trip, having a comfortable lead (by score and standings). I doubt they are saving themselves specifically. But I bet Q's not getting on them all that hard because he's got that in the back of his mind.
They also had crappy QBs. Crappy because they're just crappy? Or crappy because they were never developed? I don't think I want to find out. Pass on this guy plz. Crappy because they are crappy, and they stayed that way because they weren't developed. I don't want him either. Jackson was like a 50% passed in 1-AA and drafted way too early.
That's not "only", that's the whole point. That's a flawed point. Zambrano relieved in the minors, That's a ridiculous comparison. Zambrano started 24 games at age 18 in A ball and was pretty decent, playing pro ball. He went into the pen for a bit the next year, but it was always noted that he could maintain high 90's into the late innings. And at age 20 he started 24 more games in AAA. Cashner was a nothing prospect as a starter and only got hype once he went to the pen. Cashner and Zambrano are horrible comparisons for career path. Cashner has shown absolutely no ability to be an actual starter, unless you just want to get 4-5 innings out of him every time. Cashner is 22 years old and averaged 4.2 innings in 24 starts this year. Zambrano made 32 starts in the major leagues at 22, pitching 214 innings.
Choi, Hill, Montanez, Kelton. Seriously, that's an unrealisticly hopeful future. There's no way Jackson, Castro and Lee all stick as starters and 1, 2, 5 hitters. Because that would almost mean this team is 96-00 Yankee good.
Tyler Colvin had his surgery much later in the year, after leaving the AFL. Plus, he sucks, so any talk of being rusty and a slow recovery is probably just covering up that fact.

I don't think it tells you much about what they think of him. It's standard for teams to let position coaches interview for coordinator positions. That being said, this guy would be a completely uninspiring selection and would tell me even more Lovie is just looking for a guy to do what he wants rather than an actual autonomous OC.
I think it's ludicrous to discount the value of taking the job that is offerend instead of waiting to see if somebody else makes an offer. It's asinine to suggest people view Oakland as more stable than Chicago (their head coach was almost arrested this season and almost fired last week). The Bears may be making a mistake by taking their time, but the Bears are taking their time and guys are taking jobs that are offered to them intead of waiting on the Bears. That's not sugarcoating, it's the only rational explanation. From a PR standpoint, the Bears look bad. They are letting other people frame the story instead of finding their guy and signing him. But in the long run the PR story and media's take is meaningless.
The better Ivy teams do pay some for head coaches. How much was he making in Ole Miss? If he thought this was the best way to get a head coaching gig, it makes sense. Looks good on the resume to have some HC experience. Cornell's head coach left to take the Duke DC position.
