  1. [expletive] YOU [expletive] MORONS ?? All that says is they will not be able to deal him in the next two days. Not that they have to trade him over the winter. It strongly indicates that they are actively trying to move him and given the Cubs tendancies quite likely means they will aggressively shop him this offseason.
  2. The guy who couldn't even come up with a team to guess is far more embarrassing. True. I didn't know the answer but guessed right.
  3. Isn't one position CF and the other 3B? Yes. The last couple years they haven't been too far apart on what is asked for offensively from the position. But after looking over it again 3B has always required slightly more offense so that's another point in Jackson's favor. 3B has been similar to 2B in recent years, but you still need to hit more at 3B than CF to be considered a positive. And if Vitters does have to move to 1B some day, he needs to hit a hell of a lot more. That and the difference in patience is fairly significant. Jackson's going to win out on OBP, and he actually has the better IsOP despite Vitters being considered a greater power threat.
  4. Isn't one position CF and the other 3B?
  5. Have they just given up on Fontenot? Do they hate his defense? Has Lou determined the organization's opinion about him?
  6. Izturis redux. Izturis was 2 years older with 2500 major league plate appearances of essentially 600 OPS and a 60 OPS+ and absolutely no minor league production. This guy is younger with a 150 point minor league OPS advantage and a 30-something OPS+ advantage in the majors. He at least appears to be a potentially competent starter. Although he's hardly somebody to get excited about. I'd consider it a much lesser mistake than the Izturis acquisition.
  7. Eh, he's definitely a hell of a lot better than Theriot this year, he's 6 years younger and he's a lot cheaper. He outperformed him by a significant margin in the minors and his brief major league career has been about as good as Theriot's career year. I don't know much about the guy, but if he can be a better 2B option than what they have for the next few years it's not a bad idea.

  9. Or just being an easy target.
  10. Lilly doesn't guarantee anybody the playoffs, and in the case of the Dodgers, their ownership is in the middle of a divorce that is tearing at the finances of the organization.
  11. So, even when you neutralize for luck, he still wasn't very good. Yeah, no one's saying that Vitters woulda torn apart the Southern League if it weren't for that darn misfortune. But an .800 OPS in AA as a 20 year old is nothing to be disappointed in either. Only 14 qualified hitters in the Southern League have an OPS greater than .800 right now. And another six have an OPS between the theoretical 787 and 800. And how many guys between Vitters and there "should" have a higher OPS? Vitters has no plate discipline. That can put a strain on your BABIP. And I don't know how much faith people should put into measuring line drive percentage either. His strikeout rate is up, and his 2010 total OPS is down from his so far fairly pedestrian professional career. 2010 - .247/.312/.405 career - .275/.317/.435 Luck may have played a part in how horribly his AA numbers were, but I don't think it actually made it bad. The bottom line is he was rushed and has not performed in either A+ or AA (676 overall OPS at both levels). My frustration with Vitters is much more about the Cubs and how they have dealt with him. The promotions to both high A and AA have been unjustified and unnecessary, and the performance since the promotions has been very disappointing. His value as a prospect has declined, meaning his trade value is lower, and he's no closer to taking over the third base job (competently) than if they had been more reasonable with his promotion schedule.
  12. http://blogs.desmoinesregister.com/dmr/index.php/2010/07/29/release-miss-iowa-usa-is-slated-to-throw-out-the-first-pitch-at-fridays-washington-nationals-game/ Miss Iowa is going to throw out the first pitch at a Nationals game after a good natured war of words with Miguel Batista regarding his Miss Universe/Miss Iowa comment.
  13. Keep him fresh for his call-up.
  14. Jeez. If that is the kind of season that loses you money, with 41 sellouts of the biggest arena in the NHL (i think), ridiculous amounts of merchandise sales, 11 home playoff games and a Stanley Cup, then either the Hawks are greatly in trouble as an organization or the NHL CBA really really sucks. They really ramped up spending with Hossa, Campbell and the three longterm contracts (Hossa was paid more in 2009/2010 than his cap hit). They also overhauled the front office, having fired a coach and GM that were both under contract. 2008-2010 has been kind of like a giant marketing plan. They've spent a lot of money to get the interest back in the team.
  15. Wow is right. Wouldn't wanna be his roommate. [hack]It's for when the team [expletive] the bed of the season after about week 6.[/hack] It's a gift for Cutler when he shits his pants as another defender blows by Garza.
  16. I think mid 800s is a fair statement for an 868. I looked at it earlier and only remembered the 860 part. Still, he's got 28 guys ahead of him in the PCL and he's a 1B.
  17. He was drafted as a 3B but I thought there were assumptions he'd be a 1B/DH now.
  18. He's a 23 year old with a mid 800's OPS in the PCL right now, coming off a disappointing 2009, with questions about his future position. He's interesting, but is he all that valuable? I probably would have liked to have turned Lilly into him though.
  19. He's the fatbottomed one, right? I thought he was thought of as a quality bat questionable position that kind of stunk last year.
  20. I would pay money to hear a tape of this. When B+B find them selves on the right side of an argument with morons, it's just classic radio. Juan Pierre has won a world series.
  21. I'd keep a player before paying nearly most of his salary and getting an underwhelming package. Maybe in the offseason they could have gotten more. Unless you were under strict orders to cut costs ASAP. or a moron or a moron
