  1. Don't fool yourself into thinking that matters to Goony. There's always going to be excuses for Vitters.
  2. The self-circumcising* underwear? *corrected for horrible mistake.
  3. would be a bit redundant, but i guess i can't put it past Hendry anyway. It'd actually be a good move by Hendry to give DLee a full NTC with a new deal. It might cut down the cost and the 10/5 rights would make it irrelevant. Why would it cut down the cost?
  4. Yes he did. .223/.292/.383 41k/13bb
  5. Can someone reference something that I can read as to why this is. I've seen the argument made lots of times - but never read anything indepth. It comes down to outs being the most important thing, most specifically not making them. I get that, but, you can't avoide making them - it is impossible - a team is going to make an out roughly 66% of time. You are obviously going to have stretches where a team is going to do much better than that but its going to even out in the end. That's probably the one certainty in baseball - outside the home half of the 9th and beyond you are going to make 3 outs. In my head - which is why I am looking for some reading material - what you do with the "non-outs" is more important than simply making one or not making one. Well, you're wrong. Getting as many people to the plate as you can without making outs is what's most important.
  6. Does Marmol really need to warm up again with a 5-0 lead and 2 outs?
  7. I don't know either, but I don't trust him. Has Marshall been as good as I think he's been?
  8. Jesus man, it was a joke. Don't get your panties in such a bunch, I'm not slighting your predictive genius.
  9. Ok so I was 1 at bat early 7 actually. 1 actually. Soto, 6 other outs, a sac bunt and a walk. That's 7 AB, or 9 PA.

  11. Rivera is the exception that proves the rule. He was also a guy with a K/BB ratio of 4/1 and a career WHIP of 1.00. Marmol is an incredibly inconsistent pitcher who will never be able to maintain his current K rate. If his BB rate does not come down sharply he's going to spend his career with inconsistent results that won't come close to Rivera. Also, the mention of Mark Prior here is just dumb. I don't even know what you could be possibly trying to accomplish with that one.
  12. http://www.cubworld.com/c=cfUggRYJSwGh1EJMAC5PLVtF4/category/a_cubworld_cam/ wind blowing out hard to RF?
  13. The Cubs are 5-5 in their last 10 games, don't mess with success.
  14. I think he's a poor man's Ladd, but there's an obvious difference between the two. He's a bit of a nuisance, but he also seemingly disappears for long stretches.
  15. Yes it is. It absolutely is. If it's at the higher end of a players value, it's trading high.
  16. He's like a half-step worse than Hendry. That's because the World Series trophy he is carrying is slowing him down. So if the Cubs had won the WS in 2003, and then everything else afterward plays out exactly the same as we've seen in the last 7 years, Hendry would suddenly be a good GM? Obviously he would not, but the team sticking with him for as long as they have would be more understandable. Given a 5-year grace period after winning one, we'd be well past that by now. And the overall record would still be unacceptable.
  17. If it happens apparently the prospects camp made a big impact on their decision, which is one reason why they didn't just do it from the beginning. Also, a Campbell trade is going to be all about timing. At the outset of free agency, when they had to clear space, the demand for Campbell's contract could have been much lower than it is today, once free agency has cooled off and teams know where they stand and what is available.

  19. Hendry is going to get criticized no matter what he does because there are more than one opinion out there about what he should do. Every GM gets criticized no matter what they do because of this very reason. It's a pointless statement to make.
  20. Why not? Why is he a super star? There's no good reason why Marmol can't be traded.
