    according to cot's bradley gets $12 million this year, with the cubs paying $5.5 of that. i think there were certain conditions where 2011 would be a club option year, but i don't think those conditions were met, so 2011 became guaranteed. Yeah, the conditions were met already in 2009. It didn't take much for 2011 to become guaranteed.

    You know, I'm really getting annoyed at this storyline. Why is it that the Bears lucked into Philly losing to Minnesota to open up the 2 seed to them? Chicago beat Minnesota twice, and they beat Philly. They didn't luck into the Vikings beating the Eagles, the Eagles lost. Green Bay lost several games this year, Chicago didn't luck into Detroit being one of those losses. Chicago didn't luck into New Orleans losing to Seattle. New Orleans is going to struggle on the road outdoors in the playoffs. It's just the way it is with a dome team that relies so heavily on its passing game. Yes, the Bears have had an opportunity presented to them, but they have actually gone out and taken advantage of the opportunity, beating several contending teams along the way. People claim Green Bay shot themselves in the foot in week 3 against a still developing Bears team. But if they did, then the Bears went out, bought the gun, put it in their hands and forced them into the decision of shooting their foot or their arm. Chicago has stumbled along the way, but so has every team. Chicago limited those stumbles and improved as a team along the way. They made their own breaks.

    I suspect it's because Milwaukee probably has a fair number of Bears fans, but still... Seattle probably also has a much higher percentage of the population that don't give a crap about sports.

    Same. But I was that way against the Saints too. I was so focused on that game that it didn't hit me till afterwards that we were going to the freaking Super Bowl. This feels so much different than the 2006 season to me. They were destined for the Super Bowl that entire season, and were clearly the most talented team in the NFC. I'll feel differently about it Sunday, but right now it just feels like an amazing opportunity to beat GB in the NFC Conference Championship game, moreso than an opportunity to get to the Super Bowl. Our group of football watchers are mainly Jets, Bears and Steelers fans though, and this weekend is going to be nuts.

    What did the other bar do? Dare to say Bradshaw really wasn't a good QB? Steelers fans are thin skinned babies who insist on everybody bowing before their teams greatness. And 75% of them have to be front runners because that has been a dying city for decades and there was no such thing as Steelers bars in every city before they started winning super bowls again.

    Sports Guy's "the loss doesn't really bother me and the Jets are amazing" schtick was pretty ridiculous this week. Neither he nor the other guys he spoke with even acknowledged that both Chicago and Green Bay beat the Jets this year, in non-fluke style. He and the gambling guy actually put more stock in the game that GB "should have beat the Bears" in week 3 than in either team's matchup against the Jets in mid-to-late-season.

    99% of the time I'm the same way, which is the reason why I think this is a good idea. It's actually fun to be a part of the whole crowd cheering along and spotting the jets on the horizon flying toward your head.

    Yes, got a last minute ticket and flight. I've been there a few times before. Detroit in 2006, unfortunately Arizona last year. Maybe one other time, can't remember. I've seen them more in Philly and NY than Chicago though.

    i usually don't but the thing gets the crowd pumped up Isn't an NFC championship game against the Packers enough? You should be able to plug the rotting corpse of Abe Vigoda in there and still be pumped. It's more fun for the crowd. The NFL is looking for more and more ways to make the gameday experience enjoyable for the crowd, since going to a game generally sucks in comparison to watching on TV. It makes a lot of sense to do stuff like this to allow fans to enjoy the day that much more.

    It beats Hochuli, but that's still a joke. You do realize the Packers actually committed those penalties? They would have gotten their butts pounded if they didn't commit all those penalties keeping the Bears off them. Lots of people seem to be forgetting that those penalties weren't gifts. They were the result of a poorly coached team that was having a lot of trouble handling the Bears that night.

    yeah i think he has sufficiently embarrassed himself and tarnished his legacy now. Which would mean the Bears wind up being the team to see him off. Marvelous. Small measure of revenge after being the man's personal whipping boys for so many years. Better than being his personal fellatiater. He stopped whipping the Bears a long time ago though.

    Couldn't disagree more. They sucked balls with all that experience he supposedly brought to the table. He's worthless but willing to talk to the media everyday. And why the media insists on taking quotes from a terrible backup catcher everyday is beyond me.

    Yeah...really guys...the Packers have had such little fanfare all season really.... What a weird comment. I think of the non-Seattle NFC teams, Chicago was the only one with little fanfare. Atlanta was the 1 seed favorite. GB and Philly were feisty wild card weekend teams that were really dangerous, and the Saints were the defending champs.

    Really? New Orleans was considered to be a sleeping giant when they reached the playoffs, Atlanta was considered the cream of the crop and Tampa was considered by many people to be a more worthwhile playoff team than the Bears. Nobody said much about their cake schedules, with the worst team in football and the NFC West on their schedule.

    The good thing about this matchup is GB can't win a close game here. They might beat the Bears by 10, but I kind of doubt it. Robbie Gould is going to win this one for the Bears.
