The thing is, he did come back into the game. He was going to be pulled at half time and came in for the first drive and then left. What does that say? I'm just purely spectulating here. It could be that the knee was very seriously injured. Or maybe it could be that Cutler didn't want to play. I don't know. That's BS, no offense but it is. You just directly compared Jay Cutler to Jeff George in the worst possible way. You're not speculating. You're casting aspersions. None taken. The reason why I'm comparing Cutler to George is because both of them had excellent physical talent. Their toughness and leadership abilities are being questioned. With that being said, I'm done with this issue. Good luck with Cutler is all I'm going to say.

They were also getting sub 3.0 YPA out of Forte with an ever changing line at the time. It wasn't a simple case of not calling it enough. They weren't capable of running.

I don't understand the Grossman/Cutler comparisons. They are incredibly superficial at best, and really not even close. Chicago made it where they made it in 2006 despite Grossman. He had a few moments, and provided some hope for the future, but the defense and special teams carried the day. Chicago goes nowhere this year without Cutler. He's been the biggest reason for success.

Yup. I don't feel like going through Simmons' picks all year, but I'd think he have the Bears going about 4-13 if all his picks came true. Strangely enough one time he did pick the Bears is when they played the Pats. He's gone back and forth all season. Usually after a couple times of Chicago covering when he bets against them he'd switch. But for some reason he's under the impression that last week's game could have gone either way and barely gives the Bears credit for the win, let alone the cover.

They could use help anywhere on the line. They probably need to replace 3 positions within the next 2 years. Omiyale isn't going to hold up longterm as a LT. Kreutz is not worth an extension in a salary cap world, and Garza is fading fast. They went 6 years without drafting a lineman high before getting Williams, and they have already gone 2 years since then without drafting one high.

There's no difference to them in the 8th and 9th as long as you are getting paid like a closer. If middle relievers regularly got paid as much as the closers they'd all be happy with being something other than a closer. -

Not to go too far off topic and spout more of my typical Cleveland pity, but you're right. And, sadly, I've had more than one similar discussion about which of the Cleveland heartbreaks (Drive, Fumble, Shot, Jose Mesa, LeBron) is the worst. It is. I agree.

I'm not calling it meaningless. I just don't get how people can pretend it's in a category ahead of the chance for the first trip to the Super Bowl. While the championships are great. But the time Super Bowl X came along, nobody gave a crap about NFL championships. It was super bowl or bust. And it still is.

I'm sorry but this is absurd. You are arbitrarily deciding that the only game that can match it is another Bears/Packers game. Yes I am because that's what makes it so important! Bears/Packers in the NFC title game is the absolute pinnacle of sporting games in Chicago and no other non-championship game can match it. The fact that it's the NFC title game is the reason it's so big. The rivaly only adds to the story, but it does not add anymore than when it was for their first trip to the Super Bowl.
