  1. You think Kerry Wood is garbage? I love the guy and am glad he's on the team but that has a lot more to do with his history and name than what I expect out of him on the mound. No, he's personally not garbage.
  2. You saw these decisions coming before the season? That leading the league in quality starts factoid is pointless. They still sucked. They were still one of the worst pitching staffs in the league. And what does "see it coming" have to do with anything? This wasn't a well constructed team. They were very unlikely to be good. Over the course of 6 months countless unpredictable things are going to take place. But the fact is the Cubs were poorly constructed and setbacks of some sort were inevitable. You didn't have to predict the exact things to go wrong to predict the 2011 Cubs would struggle.
  3. And Tice was the pissed off Vikings official quoted in that article that mentioned Newsome was the one who screwed up.
  4. I was under the impression that the "pitching is our strength" commentary had more to do with the uncertainty/weakness of the offense than actual strength of pitching staff. This was one of the worst pitching staffs in the league last year. They had all sorts of questions and zero depth. Their "stable" guys were not guys you rely on carrying a quality staff. They are ok, but nothing special. And the bullpen is littered with garbage outside the two studs in Marshall and Marmol. And again, it doesn't help when your manager pushes that top three to throw 110+ pitches the first three to four starts in awful conditions. Not to mention deciding that a loogy is your best bet to fill in as a starter.
  5. It was pretty obvious a long time ago. It was obvious our top 3 pitchers would suck and our next 2 would get hurt? What else you got Kreskin? It was obvious this wasn't a good team, exactly how they would get there was always in question. But pitcher inneffectiveness and health concerns were always at the top of the list with this crew. It's also not the only reason they have been outscored by....., really, 35 runs already? Ouch. It didn't help that the new manager needs to keep guys going every outing from opening day until they die. That was kind of unexpected.
  6. I like the tackle but it's a shame they either need to draft an interior lineman this year or possibly very early next year before the line can be considered up to snuff. Without any semblance of high end talent at the skills position, you have to have a somewhat dominant offensive line to really succeed as an offense. That being said, I'd like to see a RB with some burst, as opposed to the steady Matt Forte, taken in the middle of this draft. Does one exist? I really hope they aren't forced to give up a pick to make good on the messed up trade.

  8. Is there a presentemptive don't really think much of Mike Quade club?
  9. So this is what getting eliminated in the playoffs feels like one year after winning a championship? I can live with it.
  10. It's true, they do have an insane amount of junkies in that city. Beautiful and fun town, but absolutely littered with junkies.
  11. Confidence http://mit.zenfs.com/206/2011/04/AP110421127314.jpg This is not it
  12. Watching Bulls-Pacers last night at least make this debateable. Hockey happens at such an incredible rate of speed that I give them more of a benefit of a doubt. It's the league office that is absurdly incompetent.
  13. apples and oranges. Very bad example to support the idea. I like the idea of promoting regular season winners, ala NHL's president's trophy. But you can't manufacture pride such accomplishments. We only care about who holds the trophy at the end. You do that by handing out the 1 seed to best record and allow them play a one off wild card winner that was forced to play at least one win or go home game with likely their best pitchers. Don't bother with a 3 game series that allows them to reset their rotation. Winning the regular season would then mean something again. It gives the 1 seed a theoretically easier route to the series, gives the WC a definitely tougher route. Play-in games will be must-see TV as well, like going straight to a game 7.
  14. Has anybody considered the fact that Tyler Colvin isn't all that good? He's a left handed Francoeur with over 2000 professional PA of not very productive hitting. 2 week stretches of ugly results should be expected, not really alarming.
  15. you are an idiot. What? if you think he quit you are an idiot.
  16. The grounding was questionable but didn't wind up hurting them. The helmet to helmet was a valid call. Valid by the book. I didn't really see how Peppers could've avoided it without taking himself out of the play. It wa valid and a legit call. Did Taylor hold?
  17. Impressive effort. Too bad he doesn't have the skill for impact. not sure if serious at some point i would've split Forte out wide on all pass plays. he's the only one that can get open with consistency Very serious. Nice player but no impact. Still a top 10-15 RB though. The only true impact RBs are Peterson, MJD, Chris Johnson, Ray Rice, Jamal Charles and Arian Foster. Forte is in the group with Turner (much bigger impact in pass game), Mendenhall (see Turner), McFadden, and McCoy. The last 2 could join the impact group if they have another good year. Mcf and mcc do more on their own.
  18. you are an idiot.
  19. Yeah coaches make the decisions, but are you gonna tell that if it was Big Ben/Farve/Brady/Manning/Brees instead of Cutler that they would've stayed on the sideline and not play when they can walk around or ride the bike??? Heck even Philip Rivers or McNabb or Vick... I bet you not one of them would've sat down that 2nd half unless they were in a wheelchair or stretcher... Serious? Or [expletive]?

  21. Hell of a talented team. Very poorly coached. Rodgers or nothing. Better than lovies [expletive] ass.
  22. Impressive effort. Too bad he doesn't have the skill for impact.
  23. That's what I get out of this. Vet qb is the worst position in football
