  1. Barney was reading cue cards ten feet above the camera, Dernier was wasted and possibly naked from the waist down. At least Quade looked at ease.
  2. Sure it gets better, if you can just pickup and go on safari!!!!! Good job fellas, not surprised about the guys who took part in this. Probably would have guessed them. Bobby Dernier looks and sounds like a hungover wacky radio DJ.
  3. yes, 17 year olds are apparently children. Yeah, to WSR a 20-year-old mentioning a 17-year-old is just creep-city, dude. Maybe things were different back in the 60's in jolly old England, but my point of view is that once your college age, you shouldnt be picking or dating up high schoolers, unless say your an 18-19 year old Freshman or Sophmore and its someone youd been with since high school and theyre still there but youve moved on. Seriously? A 20 year old dating a 17 year old may be in bad taste, but it sure isn't pedophilia. It's good hustle is what it is.
  4. On any given pitch there is nothing wrong with swinging at something you can drive. But over the course of a game and a season it is absolutely necessary to not be a bunch of overaggressive morons. The Cubs are a bunch of overaggressive morons, and have been throughout virtually the entire Hendry era (with the exception of portions of the Piniella era).
  5. Well, there are a good number of seats where you can't see the whole field. Everything back up under the grandstand sucks. Well yeah, there's obstructed view seats, but those are there so that the 20 thousand people in the upper deck have the best upper deck view in baseball. Sigh. Thank you. And it's easy to get under the grandstands and not be obstructed. Section 218-222ish are all pretty close to home plate and are unobstructed with few exceptions. Yeah, there are good seats. But there are far too many really terrible seats. I don't see how people have a hard time agreeing with that sentiment. The best stadiums have very few bad seats. Wrigley has a lot.

  7. you could melt all this stuff.
  8. stuff your sorries in a sack
  9. This was pretty nonsensical: He was there all last year and they sucked. He was here in the early part of this season and they sucked. His glueability and leadership skills are not what is missing. It's the lack of good baseball players that hurt this team.
  10. The descriptions of his problems make me thing that would be a huge longshot.
  11. That didn't seem so much like a bad hop as it did DeWitt losing the ball in his glove. Castro fed him on the bag with plenty of time. On initial view and replay it looked to me like maybe some backspin delayed the ball getting to Castro a millisecond, which I assumed through off the timing at 2B.
  12. Expanding the DH is an interesting topic. I've read several places this season that more players than not HATE to DH and would rather play the field as well. That makes me cautiously optimistic that the damn thing will be gone within my lifetime. Players are idiots. There is no chance of the DH being gone in your lifetime. There is an infinitely higher chance that it's adopted by the NL. Why exactly are the players idiots for wanting to play the field as well? GM's are more willing to pay for a guy who can hit 20 HR's and also play the field than a guy who hits 30 HR's and can only DH. The first player is seen as more versatile. Read the article on Adam Dunn a few weeks ago in SI. if all teams have the dh than the gm's will be willing to pay just as much for the dh as players who play the field If no teams have the DH, there are just as many jobs available, but they will go toward more all-around type guys instead of bat only guys. So all-around guys should prefer no DH.
  13. weird hop on a grounder to SS means they only get 1.
  14. Drew a walk last night too. Are the Brewers [expletive] or is his eye getting better? After watching a few of his other at bats, I'm going with the former. He was swinging at everything about a week ago. He had to make an adjustment. Ramirez is in one of his swing at everything stretches as well.
  15. greinke has 11 k/9 and 1 bb/9, but an ERA around 5.
  16. Fukudome doubled in soto, or make it a triple.
