    It absolutely does not "necessarily translate to major league success". Lots of minor league managers have enjoyed success that doesn't translate.

    You read what I wrote right, but I said it wrong. What I meant was that Wilson's contract (which I think is likely to end up in the $80-90 range) will be spread out over 4-5 years, whereas Darvish would have a large lump sum up front that might hinder pursuing the elite bat we need most. On the posting fee, I think they'll start above the $50 million the Sox paid for Daisuke and teams will start out well below it. They may end up right around that $50 million, just above, or just below but I think we almost have to assume more until we know otherwise. And I think to back off from Darvish simply because Daisuke failed is jumping the gun. They're two different pitchers, as Darvish is younger, bigger, more projectable, and doesn't have the massive workload Daisuke had. I remember Daisuke was proud of the fact that he could pitch a massive amount of innings and not get injured. What happened? He shortly had injury and ineffectiveness problems. Darvish doesn't have the same workload risk that Daisuke had. This is assuming a posting fee that gets paid out in cash up front. Do they all have to be done that way?

    Every day? No. At all? Definitely. He will do stuff that some people choose to call the "right way" because almost every manager tries to do stuff to justify their job and the media eats that crap up. He will do it, and he will probably do it more than most.

And the meaningless comment was both about the fact that he was a damn good player (should not enter into discussion) and that his managers said he worked hard.

    That's not fair enough. His stance on football players is absurd. You don't know how to react to a play? Oh shut up. You react to the play and call that you see. Who the hell just sits there and ponders whether he should cheer because of the possibility that the review guy will summon the ref to take a look and overturn it? That's moronic. If Devin Hester does a nifty sideline dance to avoid a defender and steps very close to the line, I want to be able to go nuts when he reaches the end zone and the officials raise their hand. I don't want to be thinking "That was cool but I don't know if it's going to count!" You are a freak.

    Yes there is. You overturn the bad out call and leave the bases loaded. That's fair, because a bad out call that clearly screws a team over gets overturned but the would he or wouldn't he discussion isn't the same.

Theo paid lip service for the mongoloids that think the Cubs lost because they don't move runners over enough or practice in spring training. Theo knows the Cubs lost because Jim Hendry and his underlings were incompetent fools running things like high school coaches. moving runners over and stressing fundamentals aren't going to change things for the Cubs. The fact that lots of idiotic baseball people thought like idiots for a long time doesn't defense Ryne Sandberg for thinking like an idiot.

    Eh. A Corona with a lime may not be my favorite, but it does me just fine from time to time. It's for beer drinkers who don't like beer. Saying its piss water is giving it a compliment. But if Theo likes it that's fine with me. That's nonsense. You can enjoy a good beer and enjoy a corona as well. Personally I wouldn't drink it in the freezing cold fall weather, it's more of a first signs of summer thing for me. But it's fine.

    This is how every "good baseball man" advances in baseball, because all baseball men have nothing but good things to say about all good baseball men. Every pitching coach does a great job, every hitting coach is tremendously helpful, every manager has players that want to play for him, every scout is a savvy one. Those statements are completely worthless. As some have already noted, the Cubs players were gaga over Mike Quade last fall and he proved to be an incompetent boob.

    Yes, I'm fairly certain they took a look at the other safeties and I don't think it was made to prove a point. The Bears were holding more safeties than they normally do, and they expect their backups to play special teams. Chris Harris doesn't contribute on special teams and he's not starting, so they cut him to bring in a LB (where they were thing) who contributes on special teams.

    It really is. The Cubs have contended in the not too distant past. The Cubs are clearly heading in the right direction, and they have money to spend. People will go to the money unless the situation is a disaster and the Cubs aren't a disaster.
