  1. Sign Mario and then nothing but BPA in rounds 1-3, any position but QB.
  2. This is where Lovie's coaching has to help. Lovie should be able to keep "malcontents" from being too much of a distraction.
  3. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3653/brandon-marshall I didn't even notice that rotoworld already has bears logo on his page
  4. Bears cannot draft offense but trading for Cutler and Marshall a few years apart is as good as it's been in decades.
  5. 4/14/2010: Signed a five-year, $47.3 million contract. The deal contains $24 million guaranteed, including a $5.5 million signing bonus, a second-year roster bonus of $3 million, and $6 million of Marshall's 2012 salary barring a league suspension in the first three years. 2012: $9.3 million, 2013-2014: $9.1 million, 2015: Free Agent
  6. shefter said 3rd round in 2012 and 3rd round in 2013. Miami must being thinking Marshall is reason why Manning was staying away.
  7. http://twitter.com/#!/jayglazer I'm getting inundated by angry dolphin fan friends
  8. It worked for the media people who wanted the Cubs to stay out of free agency.
  9. That move wouldn't have to be made for a couple weeks though.
  10. Buffalo should have a tough time recruiting big name free agents.
  11. I wouldn't be surprised to see Peppers gone as soon as 2013. He gets a significant raise after this season (base salary goes up almost 5Mil, I believe). Urlacher's a FA after this year. Briggs could be also gone by then. Forte could be gone if no long-term deal is reached. That would leave Mario and Cutler as the only big contracts on the team. That's very doable, and I personally don't think the dropoff would be that huge if you draft well at DE and LB, and have managed to shore up the WR and OL in the meantime. Yes, I think it's inevitable that within 2-3 years a lot of current big earners will be gone, but it could happen as soon as next offseason.
  12. I was done with Dusty before he signed the contract, so you can say I was as patient as his hitters. But Dusty didn't deserve patience.
  13. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to see him get close to what Sidney Rice got. Rice got 5 years/$41Mil. I'd guess 5 years and anywhere from 32-38Mil. Once Jackson signs and Colston looks like he's going to RE-sign in NOLA.....Manningham becomes the top guy on the board at WR probably based on his experience. Before he won the Super Bowl I was interested in him as a dark horse candidate to help with WR depth. He's no #1 but he's a nice player, who along with Bennett and a 1st or 2nd round pick could at least stabilize the group. But after the Super Bowl hype I'm guessing he gets a little more than deserved and am now much less interested.
  14. Clayton acknowledges that it can work but insists such a thing will eventually catch up to a team. Yeah, in 2-3 years they will probably be without Peppers anyway. They will also be without a mega deal LB in Urlacher. If they were to go this way, I'd expect them to go offense heavy in the draft early, then in the back half of this draft and most of next draft start going heavy defense again to replace those vets that will be gone. The Bears absolutely can make this work. There's no reason why you can't have 2 highly paid defensive ends.
  15. How many games did you see live as a kid? I think I went to about 4 Cubs games by the time I was 18. I can only remember 2 specifically but I'm sure there were a couple more. I probably went to about three a year on average through the college years and then a few more when I got out of school and had my own real income. If you spend 18 years of your kids life without being able to take him to a Cubs game that would be a shame, a total first world ridiculous shame, but a shame nonetheless. But odds are you can at least go to one a year if you insist and any kid that needs more than that is a spoiled brat.
  16. The Peppers, Taylor, Manumamamamalaula offseason was interesting, but they followed that up with nothing last year, so maybe they listened to the warning and got off the hook that way. They also restructured Peppers, so maybe that helped.
  17. I see elite being a longshot barring massive improvements to both WR and the line. Aside from the lack of talent, they still have Mike Tice as the OC. They should be able to finally be above average, but they have a hell of a lot of ground to make up to even be flirting with the elite groups.
  18. He should be able to, but the point is he has not to date, and the perception around the league remains that the Bears passing game is a joke.
  19. No idea. Unless he's getting peanuts I see no reason to sign him.
  20. What is stupid? The Bears have been an offensive blackhole for decades. Their brief forays into not sucking on offense have not lasted, and even with 3 years of Cutler their incompetent management/coaching and no surrounding talent has kept them below average. Green Bay has had a couple decades of elite passing going on. We can love Jay all we want but the perception in the league is definitely that Chicago's passing game is not conducive to anybody wanting to further their career. And they have a freaking line coach as the offensive coordinator now.
  21. In my opinion it is not stupid at all. It will be fun. A 3 game series can still be quite flukey.
  22. What's the point of such a convoluted scenario? The 1 game playoff is simple, quick, and exciting. And when 5-game series are considered by most to be too short, a 3-game series doesn't really add anything to the "fair" barometer. The point is to force all teams to play for their division titles, and reward those titles.
  23. This statement contains near-lethal levels of of grit and hustle. His name is too ambiguously ethnic. Italians have been granted white guy status ever since Rocky came out.
