    wasn't there just an anti-Pac 10 post in here? I clicked to reply and now it's gone. Anyway, Pac 10 has plenty of history and current quality.

    Ideally they would have better hitters right now who could fit the bill in the middle of the order and allow him to hit somewhere else. Down the line, I see no reason why he couldn't be the type of hitter to rely on everyday in that spot for years and years. If the 2, 3, 4 in 2015 was Jackson, Castro, Rizzo, that could be pretty cool Personally, I'd want to see Jackson and Castro slid up one spot each and #3 filled with awesome player to be named later, or Rizzo slid up and #4 filled by awesome player to be named later. That would also be nice, but Castro could very easily be a 900 OPS type hitter in his prime and awesome enough in his own right.

    He's been batting third all year and was up above an 800 OPS until 2 weeks ago. This is nonsense.

    There's a whole bunch of ridiculousness here. First off, who cares if Colvin may have been gone 30 picks later, that is not reason to justify a reach of a pick like that. He had no business being picked by the Cubs where he was picked. It's not justy hindsight that views Wilken's horrible track record, it was at the moment "my god what are the Cubs doing" opinions by many. He didn't get the job done. There's no reason to make a bunch of excuses, he had a long time to do and didn't do nearly enough, much like his boss.

    To be fair, Castro is 22, and Miguel Cabrera got traded before his 25th birthday after making 4 All-Star games. Because the garbage organization that had him didn't deserve him.

    Good starters will give you average starts half of the time, and then be really good 25 percent of the time and bad the other 25 percent. that's true

    I would much rather trade Garza due to defensive concerns and pending pay raises than Castro.

    That was a money thing. Is it wrong to wonder why a bad offensive team would just give up on a 24 year old former 1st round pick? I don't know. Maybe it was options, maybe he had a bonus coming. Maybe he slept with someones wife. It just makes me wonder, which I think is pretty sensible. It doesn't mean I thinks it's dumb, It doesn't mean I think it's a sure failure, just gives me cause to question it- not the pick up but why they would cut him. I don't think there's anything wrong with wondering why the A's cut him. I also don't think there's anything wrong with letting him get a couple PA while he's on the team.
