  1. Hardly any of those guys you mentioned are beat writers. That's a ridiculously silly statement to make. Protect the team?
  2. You think Tom Ricketts is micro managing? I didn't like the extensions, but it made sense to bring some stability to the organization, not knowing at the time who he would be able to get run the show.
  3. What a weird post. They are all pathetic, except for more than half of them? Sullivan didn't do anything wrong in my opinion. He reported what he heard. It's not his job to spread Theo's message how he wants it spread. It seems pretty clear he said what he said. He's still pathetic, though. Sure. He's an obnoxious twit, although he's worth following on twitter. It just doesn't make sense for anybody to freak out on him for the Dempster situation when by all accounts he reported what was said. He's not a Cubs employee.
  4. I just looked at the banner on top of the Cubs page during the top half of the first because I had no idea who was pitching. I saw the name Maxwell.

  6. The Cubs are playing. Germano just managed to hit a dude in the belly button with a fastball.
  7. Seems like Goldstein is going to miss talking to Fleita. Kevin Goldstein ‏@Kevin_Goldstein We're not inside enough to know the whys or if it should happen, I just tend to think, "Damn, that dude always returned my calls." Kevin Goldstein ‏@Kevin_Goldstein Funny how you react to front office firings when you are in the media.
  8. Paul Sullivan ‏@PWSullivan Still on the Cubs' payroll: Team shrink, team nutritionist, Crane.
  9. Jed takes the fall this year to cover up for Epstein's failures. Next year it's Theo's turn. Crane Kenney promoted to owner. Greek Orthodox priest convinces Crane to put the team up for collateral in Greece's next bond issue, team is liquidated by March.
  10. There's value to another voice in the room when it comes to player evaluation, but it can only be a distraction in the player development side. I feel they simply paid lip service to Oneiri being capable for delivering their message to the players. Now that they actually have some of "their guys" coming into the pipeline it's beyond time to get a development guy in there to teach their style.
  11. Bruce Miles ‏@BruceMiles2112 Source: Oneri Fleita out as #Cubs front office continues changing. More later on Daily Herald site. Fleita led player development
  12. make rosenblog an expletive, so when it appears in a link it will get censored and break the link.
  13. start with the word "rosenblog", right there in the link.
  14. This word, I do not think it means what you think it means.
  15. Except for the fact Boise is short-season A ball, Bruce. I've heard it referred to either way. "Rookie ball" can refer to both AZL and Boise, and "A ball" can mean Boise through Daytona. I've never heard it referred to as rookie ball. The AZL is rookie ball and A- is low A or short season ball.
  16. No way. They are at best passable. The problem with counting them is Williams was the first top half of the draft OL pick in a decade. They were playing catch up at that time, and still should be. It's a 5 man group. You can't just draft 2 over 11 years and say you've addressed it. It's a 5 man position group that requires 6 or 7 over a season. You need to spend multiple draft picks on them, not constantly sign other teams castoffs. They have effectively ignored the group in the draft for a decade.
  17. I'm definitely a coward with respect to my expectations.
  18. I got my sights set on 10. Certainly room for more, but I think defensive questions, ongoing line issues and offensive adjustments will prevent them from being as good as they have the potential to be.
  19. Well there's a big difference there too.
  20. I don't think it would be that hard. Teams make massive transitions all the time. On offense maybe it will take time to click, but defense is basically just about the talent and the scheme can change from play to play, game to game and very easily over the course of an offseason.
  21. That wouldn't be a very fair comparison. The ESPN2 option is always going to get hammered by the mothership option.
  22. This. I'd even go as far as saying to sit him out the first three games of the year to really make sure he's feeling better. That should still be two easy wins against the Colts and Rams, then just take your chances with the Packers. Not that they'll ever do it. The first month of the season I referred to equals the first three games of the year.
  23. It is definitely going to be a recurring problem.
  24. I'd rather he sit out the first month and try to play out the rest of the season than make the goal be showing up for the first game. If they can't beat Indy without Urlacher they aren't that good anyway.
  25. I find the women's team much more enjoyable to watch than the men's.
