  2. Are you actually reporting something you heard/read or are you just being pessimistic or something? Hard to tell... lol...i know right...sorry about that... i am just being pessimistic...don't worry... i wouldn't post anything like this if it had some sort of source* *although sources don't seem to matter in this case
  3. yeah, but none of the lineups have the pitcher batting ninth...not making it very realistic
  4. trade not going to happen...fontenot at second again this season when derosa subs ramirez... not looking forward to that personally
  5. if this happened i would have to watch his unorthodox batting style all year long :-k
  6. bedard, z, lilly, lieber, hill if only man if only
  7. Overall, it's very unlikely that he'll ever qualify as "good". He may be good enough for the Cubs to win the World Series, but that shouldn't preclude them from trying to get a better shortstop. If he's a full-time starter for the next five seasons, there's a fair chance that in one or two of those seasons, he's going to hit in especially good luck, have an elevated BABIP, and post some pretty decent numbers. Nevertheless, his is a spot where we should be actively seeking to improve. you know we aren't going to upgrade before the season starts...christ we can't even "marginally" upgrade at 2nd... i am just praying that the bolded text happens this season...FROM EVERYONE SOTO
  8. THT has a good glossary. I'm not sure how much non-BP members can see but Baseball Prospectus has a glossary as well. Also, wikipedia is a pretty good source. Or just google stuff. The interwebs are your friend. If you really want to learn stuff perusehttp://www.insidethebook.com thanks for the links and tips guys...should i just go buy that book after class tonight?
  9. i want to learn about all these wacky stats you guys are throwing out constantly... i am your novice...educate me...you know you want to because there is nothing else to do while we are waiting for our enormous GM to pull the strings!
  10. Yea, that's what we're doing. I'm getting the feeling that Deuce is 13 or 14. I remember responding pretty much the same way on like AOL message boards at around that age when all of the conventional wisdom baseball crap I thought I knew was brought into question. We should probably go easier on him... :? think again...a quote of his from the cubs.com board Pwnd!!!
  11. well, at least one of gallagher and marshall, if not both, will be included in the roberts deal... so...i just don't see jim doing it... we would be depleting our reserves for crap basically... naw...
  12. i thought the rangers were asking way too much for byrd? have things changed on that front?
  13. Good call. I forgot all about that rumor. Still, I don't think Hendry would be comfortable with removing Marquis from the rotation given his contract. I don't think he's even in the rotation at this point Right now it looks like: Z Lilly Lieber Hill Dempster if marquis is still on this club come opening day he will be in the rotation
  14. guys the bickering finally ends in a few days and we can finally put this beast to rest 8-) --insider
  15. sports.yahoo.com/mlb/rumors;_ylt=Am.6RHdjFPzHNiHiU7Cd6jcRvLYF Doubt it since it seems like him to the Mariners is all but done, but it is from today so I thought i'd post it. I woulnd't be surprised if MacPhail and Hendry have the Roberts thing agreed on until Bedard is traded and Jim is helping Seattle raise their ante. I could see MacPhail telling Bavassi: "Well we're going to take the Cubs offer of Pie, Hill, and a buncha minor leaguers (obviously not real) unless you replace Sherill with Truinfel", or something like that. it is a shame that we aren't going to get bedard because that trade would be super cool my prediction is that these trades will undoubtedly go down this next week mark it dude! Giving up Hill in a trade for Bedard would in no way be super cool. this is where you and i don't see eye to eye...in my opinion bedard is a better pitcher than hill That doesn't give any reason to trade Hill for him The key to acquiring Bedard is that the rotation would be complete. Trading Hill for Bedard is a slight upgrade but it still leaves a spot open. true...doing the trade without hill is the preferred option, but if that can't be done...bedard is better than a slight upgrade...so it would make the rotation stronger...
