If Hendry doesn't have a contingency plan to come up with $5 million in an unlikely scenario at this point in the offseason, he is much worse at his job than almost anyone on here suspects. that is ridiculous, stop being so emotional -
guys...go look at peavy's postseason stats...they are not good...neither are harden's how many of you are really that ok with derosa being our everyday right fielder? i think it is much wiser to try and get someone to bat leadoff and fill the RF spot Not that it's the only thing wrong with that post, but you should probably know you lose some credibility when you talk about needing a leadoff hitter.... especially when the team in question just scored the most runs in the league. leadoff still isn't a position well...i guess i lost credibility...too bad i threw the leadoff hitter out there because i was looking for just that response thanks

no no no no no no but it is a possibility that they won't be big game pitchers harden didn't look good in game 3 and peavy didn't look good in his last big game with colorado for the last playoff spot in 2007 a lot of the cubs have looked horrible as well i am just saying that you can't jump down my throat for correlating the offense with pitching i don't believe the trend will continue, but it has been discussed on here before

yeah really, what exactly is wrong with that everybody here can get all up in arms if they want to because i might want some additional offense added and a more potent middle of the order for the playoffs next season i am just saying that not getting peavy might not that bad of a deal and might actually help us in the long run

lol that's fine, go ahead and bemoan soriano in the playoffs and pretty much the rest of the offense...but...hey...why base it on those 6 games the cubs played the last two seasons? surely they won't do it again right?

double wrong, BJ Upton No Sizemore is right. Can you imagine how much Upton would get hammered when he chose to not run out his ground balls? no way, ramirez and him would become quick friends! -
Marquis has value to a team that needs a bottom of the rotation starter and isn't strapped for cash. That leaves out a lot of teams though. I'd think he'd be on the block for the third team. I'm thinking nothing is going to get done with Peavey until the free agency period gets sorted out. If the Yankees or another contending team needs another starter and they have some mid level minor league starting pitching that is pretty good that may be the Ménage à trois the Cubs need. i don't agree with you on much, but i do think it will take the pitching market thinning out before peavy goes anywhere

ok...so...some of you will remember that I didn't get back into baseball till the tale end of the 2006 season... so...i have noticed that over the past two seasons...some of the cub players (Zambrano & Dempster) have big mouths and like to predict WS appearances/victories NO MORE who else will be pleased beyond belief to see no predictions this year i will also go ahead and say that, even though it probably isn't that big of a deal, i would really like the cubs to WIN the first game of the season and the last in 09 these 3 things will make me feel much more confident about the playoffs next season if we are lucky enough to get there

uh oh...you just did it i say we trade Z to the yanks and get back hughes then get peavy i love the Z, but he is frustrating... naw...i really don't know about that...he has actually been our only good pitcher in the playoffs two years running now
