  1. Please tell me that Sean Marshall wasnt one of the main obstacles in this deal? While I can see Hendry not wanting let let DeRosa go, I would give up Marshall for Peavy in a heartbeat. i don't know about that...we would have needed to part ways with marquis and marshall is our swing man since we aren't keeping gaudin around... would else would we use in absence of marshall?
  2. Derosa is a nice player but he's not nearly good enough to hold up a trade for far better player. He's replacable, and just because you don't care about his age doesn't mean that it's not an issue. No, that production is not replaceable at 2B. Now if you tell me you are working on a Furcal deal after DeRo gets moved for Peavy, then we'll talk. But let's not make it seem that DeRo is some scrub player that can be easily replaced by a Fontenot or old ass veteran. Yeah, DeRosa really showed up in the playoffs when he fumbled an easy DP in Game 2 (opening the floodgates) and then went 0-4 in Game 3. Furthermore, why does DeRosa seem to skate by with mistakes while someone like Soriano never does? I can remember a few times during the season he made dumb defensive or baserunning plays, and nothing was mentioned. really, no one jumped all over soriano...i find that incredibly hard to believe
  3. well...at least that makes sense now i can point and laugh at my met's friend
  4. booooooo i wanted ibanez geez...i wish we would just forget bradley and abreu and go hard after hermida instead then throw 4 years and 44 million at furcal and call it a day
  5. oh...hey! welcome back deuce! the deuce is loose THE DEUCE! :hello:
  6. Didn't we have like the best offense in the NL last year, or at least close to the best? Who cares what we need. We need a RF and 1 more SP. I'd rather have Reed Johnson in RF and Peavy then Milton Bradley and Marquis. we need a more "balanced" offense...does that work better for you? or have you not watched the last 6 playoff games?
  7. it is easy to point fingers if it was just between the cubs and the padres but it wasn't stop getting so upset, hendry walked away and i trust the man enough to believe that he had a damn good reason for doing so
  8. http://hotstove.mlblogs.com/archives/2008/12/peavy_deal_to_cubs_dead.html
  9. lol god what a load of [expletive] whatever can we please get hermida and furcal now instead dickcheese towers
  10. done done and done again...just tell me where to sign
  11. i just hope that part of bradley's contract would be a clause requiring him to train extensively from now till opening day... i like the guy, but durability issues have me heavily preferring ibanez or even abreu
  12. hermida .333 .385 1.167 1.551 at wrigley...only 4 games, but think of the possibilities!!! :stickman:
  13. I won't mind rooting for Wood on the Indians. At least it's an AL team. :( One that routinely plays against the White Sox. And one that comes to Wrigley Field from June 19-21. I usually find it lame when guys come back here to St. Louis and the fans shower praise on them, i.e. Edmonds and Taguchi. But I think Woody deserves some recognition from the fans when he comes back for his time here. Thing is, if he comes in to try to close a game it would be weird to have the fans cheering him. meh...i will cheer him on...root for him to succeed...and won't be upset if he does it's kid k baby!
  14. http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/sullivan/20081208-9999-1s8sullivan.html Nice quotes there. Not to turn this into another Hendry debate, but fans just don't get how important it is to have a GM that everyone considers honest and up front about everything. Without that trait, it's highly doubtful he lands Harden and he'd probably have no shot at Peavy. hear hear hendry does seem to get lots of praise around the league...i like the man and his honest work ethic...he seems like he is a straight shooter
  15. there will be a taker for marquis
  16. best pitcher of my generation...IMO
  17. awesome news, i don't have to watch this man next year i can't wait till theriot takes him yard
  18. damn, that is pretty awful
  19. lol cue up the "playoffs are a crapshoot" responses
  20. If Hendry doesn't have a contingency plan to come up with $5 million in an unlikely scenario at this point in the offseason, he is much worse at his job than almost anyone on here suspects. that is ridiculous, stop being so emotional i hope kerry wood signs a four-year deal with the cardinals and strikes out the side against the cubs for the save in the seventh game of the nlcs four consecutive years, just so i can see jim hendry cry krispy creme overindulgence is the leading cause of faulty tear ducts...
