    Pooooooooooor Chapman!!! Won't anyone think of the man that just served a domestic violence suspension and at a minimum fired a gun eight times in his garage scaring his girlfriend into hiding in the bushes?! And, according to her initial story, choked her and pushed her against a wall? So mistreated! You were there for the whole thing and know exactly what happened? that's fascinating please continue to tell us all about it. I hate that people assume whatever a woman says to the police is 100% accurate. What he said happened and what she said happened were very different stories. I'm not saying he didn't do anything wrong but Jesus you weren't there how the hell do you know what went down? Reporters weren't there either. There's a reason why the police didn't pursue the case. I don't feel sorry for either one of them, they had issues, they worked them out apparently. I don't care what happened in their personal life. Frankly I don't think anyone needs to be judging the guy. He went through the legal and baseball judgement and served a suspension. Nothing is going to change what happened. He's here now, probably only for a few months. Enjoy his pitching dominance and move on.

    It doesn't seem like the media really asks questions about why Heward is so awful at the plate, seems like he'd be getting asked about it more or that someone would be asking Malle what's up. Maybe they have but I haven't really seen much of anything in the Chicago media about Heywards struggles offensively. I had really hoped that by now he would be showing signs of life, but it's like someone else said it just looks like the same terrible broken swing over and over with the same results all the time.

    as in you somehow managed to avoid knowing that story entirely? I don't know anything other than he shot a gun.

    Torres + seems like a huge overpay for a rental, I'm not a big fan of this at all. I really don't understand why it takes more than Torres, I think that's where they should have drew the line and even then it's an overpay. Ugg, it'll be nice to have the arm in the pen but that's quite a price to pay. I haven't read the report in his off the field issues and I won't, I care that he's probably the best reliever in the game.

    Yeah I don't see him or his agent being willing to sign an extension now and there's really no incentive for him to do so.

    There's less value from Profar than a lot of prospects because he spent so much time injured that he's arbitrqtion eligible next year and you only control him for what 3 years?

    Yeah, put Contreras at C, Zobrist in LF, and Baez at 2B. Yup, that's really our best offensive lineup right now. Montero is bad at most everything aside from maybe framing.

    Mike Montgomery seems a mediocre return for Voglebach, his numbers aren't spectacular.

    For fun, Cameron is speculating the Cubs target may have been Jose De Leon http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/lets-try-to-solve-a-mystery/ I was just about to post about wondering if maybe they were targeting one of the Dodgers young pitching prospects. Seems like this might have made some sense.

    I'm perfectly comfortable with 4/5 of the rotation. Sure who doesn't love starters that give up 5-10 runs a game right? Completely comfortable.

    Oh, absolutely. There's a reason I turned the game off tonight. But I still believe this is the best team in baseball by a decent margin. Oh my! This team as it is playing currently is probably closer to the bottom than the top. I can't see how anyone who has been watching this team the last 3 weeks can have an optimistic outlook on this season at this point. I mean they aren't just losing some series here. The complete collapse of the rotation combined with the nightmare of a bullpen doesn't seem to inspire a lot of hope.

    A big lead? A big lead was 10 games It wont be a big lead Seven games is still a big lead. 6.5 after tonight and 5.5 after tomorrow night more than likely.
