I went to the game last night in Citi Field and sat a few rows behind the Cubs dugout. Two thoughts: 1) Cashner was absolutely dealing. He was clocked consistently at 98, and a few of his fastballs touched 99. Granted, these velocities were as measured by the stadium gun (and thus, shown on the main outfield scoreboard), but still; the back-end of the Mets' lineup had literally zero chance against him. I think I remember noticing that at one point, 12 of his 14 pitches were for strikes. 2) Got the chance to meet Tom Ricketts last night. (Yes, he was at the game; not interviewing Brian Cashman...at least not between 7:05 and about 10:15 ET, anyway.) He took a picture with me and when I told him I was glad he was "our owner" (I was several beers in, sorry), he then assured me, "Don't worry, we're gonna get this thing turned around." Hope he's right.
