  1. Sending someone like Baker would make sense.
  2. Anyone on here can open a Twitter account with a MLB logo, make educated guesses from what actual reporters are saying and act like they've got sources. To say I'm beyond skeptical of that dude, is an understatement. As well you should be. Such an arrangement does make a ton of sense, however.
  3. At this point, that's not going too far out on a limb. I should say so. Theo and Jed must take turns sleeping with the amount of stuff they've been doing.
  4. Well Scott, you've been reporting a Garza trade that is 40 man neutral at best for the Cubs, so that doesn't fix the problem, does it? They were speculating that someone like Baker would tag along.
  5. Yep, I think MiLB.TV is a must-buy for this coming season. Oh [expletive], I totally forgot that existed! How much is that? I think it was 20 or 25 bucks last year. Oh hells yea. If they get Turner, milb.tv gets my $$$
  6. Repost from the Maholm thread, but why the hell not here...
  7. Yep, I think MiLB.TV is a must-buy for this coming season. Oh [expletive], I totally forgot that existed. How much is that?
  8. So I have Swaim on my twitter feed and the actually signing appears to have been broken by Maholm himself. When was the last time that happened?
  9. So to wildly speculate, the fact that this story spiked back up in conjunction with "down the road" talks of Garza to the Tigers makes one wonder if Jed and Theo wanted to do the two moves in tandem... Especially considering the story appears to have been leaked by the pitcher himself, lol.
  10. If it's Turner and Smyly, then I don't particularly care who's behind door #3. Me either. Now that would be getting pitching back. But out of curiosity, how connected is Goldstein to stuff like this?
  11. I wonder if the sudden quiet on this is on account of putting together a corresponding move.
  12. I still wish he'd just make more trade proposals instead.
  13. Really quite curious as to if this triggers a corresponding move.
  14. Yeah I'd be totally fine with this signing. As mentioned above, that'd make for a decent rotation. I think in terms of replacement he matches up well with replacing Dempster, but I still don't see why/how he'd get traded.
  15. Tim Ruskell really is the worst: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/seahawksblog/2016485412_noneofruskellsfirstroundersremainseahawks.html#.TwnZ4Ep_T6U.twitter Honestly, I think a somewhat knowledgeable football fan using the internet could achieve similar, if not better, results
  16. TT's irrational and intense hatred of him, I think. It's really not all that irrational. I'd generally consider actually getting worked up over a mediocre player being used in a fairly reasonable manner to be just a smidge irrational.
  17. Woah. What brought on the LaHair hating and misuse of internet memes?
  18. You have 18 months to pay him. Same if you trade him and send money towards the other team. The one positive of this, is he's off the books a year earlier. Of course, this and next year's payroll would go up 9 mill, if you cut him or traded him and took on the entire deal. Levine mentioned our payroll looks to be in the 120ish range for 2012, which is fine, if we're allocating monies towards IFA's. But, we're at 110ish right now for the entire 40 man, so cutting Soriano leaves us no room at all, without making trades. 110ish? Last number I saw was 102
  19. I may literally throw up if they hire Ruskell.
  20. Jed Hoyer Quote: Holy [expletive] crap. Could you imagine those words coming out of Jim Hendry's mouth? I can't believe we have a front office that thinks this way. Source: http://www.bleachernation.com/2012/01/07/jed-hoyer-and-anthony-rizzo-speak-about-yesterdays-big-trade/
  21. Not sure I totally buy it given the Theo "shame on us if we don't resign him" quote earlier this week.
  22. Still can't believe all it took was Cashner. I had always assumed Cashner would be the main piece going their direction, but I thought it would take another couple pieces... maybe Randy Wells and an interesting C level prospect. The price was much better than I expected. Especially when you consider that there's a decent case the Cubs got the better of the Cates/Na swap.
