  1. Wikipedia says Yoennis. Clearly this is correct.
  2. Looks like Lidge will be a National.
  3. Who knows. It could be over tomorrow, it could be over in two weeks, with the latter being more likely. Given how close camp is, though, I wouldn't be surprised if it was over by this time next week.
  4. Seems like this will be quite the busy bidding race after all. I wonder how long it lasts.
  5. Oh yeah, that's his "thing" for some reason, isn't it.
  6. Maybe he just doesn't want to wear those uniforms. And for what it's worth (not much):
  7. Ok now the MLB has officially announced Cespedes is an FA. Get to it Theo and Jed.
  8. http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2012/1/18/2716641/cubs-interested-in-another-cuban-gerardo-concepcion This was a few days ago btw. Apparently, he also posted they had a deal in place with Soler a couple weeks ago. http://forums.prosportsdaily.com/showthread.php?p=20478608 So he's like a Cubs version of Scott Swaim.
  9. http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2012/1/18/2716641/cubs-interested-in-another-cuban-gerardo-concepcion This was a few days ago btw. I'd probably have to stop wearing pants.
  10. Heyman also said, he may want to play for the Marlins, or he may not. Depending. Another couple.. DKnobler @DKnobler Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Also on Cespedes: He has told teams he would prefer not to play in Miami. If so, he has interesting decision if Marlins still bid big. DKnobler @DKnobler Reply Retweet Favorite · Open @BleacherNation Cubs are definitely involved Excellent.
  11. I think it's also telling that just last week, Cespedes was able to openly say that the Cubs had been his most ardent suitor. Assuming that wasn't just posturing, it sounds like the Marlins haven't been trying as hard, which is curious considering the GM's quote. Maybe Theo and Jed are just better at this sort of thing?
  12. Apparently Crane is considering a name change when they move to the AL next year. This would be an excellent chance to bring back the Colt .45's.
  13. im gonna give you props for sticking with the front page thing. it's at the point that i read all your articles just because you stuck with it, unlike, ahem, everyone else. I appreciate that, truly. But I haven't been posting nearly enough. I kept waiting for something to happen to the Cubs that I could write about... but absolutely nothing had happened since Maholm. It's a learning experience. Right now I'm learning how to figure out what the hell to write about. Hopefully the quality is worthwhile, at least. The quality is most definitely there and thank you for sticking with it. I think you're right in that there really isn't much to write about. Perhaps semi-related things like the transition of Cuban players to America or something, given the Cubs' interest in Cespedes, Soler, Concepcion?
  14. Rotoworld's take on his apparent free agency:
  15. I hope it moves fast, and I hope we end up getting him. I think he can be a solid player, hopefully we get him for a reasonable cost. Cespedes' arrival, Castro's development, BJax ML debut, and Rizzo's Cubs debut will all give us some good reasons to watch this team even if we aren't winning. Not to mention it will be interesting to see how Stewart, T. Wood, and Volstad all do in their first season with the team. Plus BJax, Rizzo, Castro and Cespedes could be a really solid young offensive core to build around.
  16. Since he's apparently an FA now, I wonder how long it will be til he signs. I imagine this will move pretty quick with ST quickly approaching.
  17. Huh!? He must have misspoke there. There's no way it could go that fast. EDIT: Apparently not. Did some digging on his twitter: If that's true then holy crap, bidding is now open.
  18. How long should the FA process take? I wouldn't think that long given that his agent probably had those papers ready to go. It seemed like Concepcion became a FA in no time at all after establishing residency.
