Well unless there's other intense competition, I'd be willing to bet Theo could top that if he wants it. As Brett noted, it seems like the Marlins are banking on him taking a hometown discount. Couple that with Ozzie's weird interview comments and I'm feeling a bit optimistic. -

According to Brett at BN yesterday, the Cubs get an extra option-year if Concepcion spends the year at Low-A. If that's actually the case I'd be pretty surprised if he didn't at least start the year there. For what it's worth, I believe today is day 7 of the estimated 7-10 waiting time for him to come into the US.

Pre-2011, Archer was the #27 prospect in baseball (BA ranking) and H-J Lee was #92. Are Turner and Smyly or Crosby going to be considerably better than that? And would a couple lottery tickets be considerably better than limited, but sure-fire major leaguers in Fuld/Chirinos/Guyer? Um, yes? hahahahaha -
Regardless of the complications the major league deal brings, the Cubs system desperately needs pitching and this is a solid step towards fixing that need. Good times.
