  1. Seriously, wow.
  2. Could also be the likely FA class (pitching!) of next offseason and the fact that not many of the FA's this offseason made much sense for the Cubs.
  3. SO EXCITED
  4. So Kobe is gonna be out for the Christmas game? Bummer.
  5. At times, you'd think they'd just traded for John Grabow.
  6. Has that insider guy on the other forum said anything?
  7. No. Jackson is clearly starting the season in AAA. Reed Johnson is our fourth outfielder, and he's bad in that role. It's annoying that we signed a player to fill a role that he's bad at. The annoyance goes to anger in that he's symbolic of everything we hoped the new regime would do differently from the old one. I don't believe anything is "clear" until after Spring Training (Hell, Byrd could be traded by then). Symbolic of everything we hoped the new regime would do differently? Doesn't typing that make you feel just a smidge hyperbolic? It's one freaking signing.
  8. Isn't he technically a 5th OF, behind Sori, Byrd, Jackson and DeJesus? What's with all the anger?
  9. Wow. BA had him at #2 before the Latos trade. Rated as best athlete and fastest base runner.
  10. That's a CBS Sports twitter account for those inquiring minds.
  11. If the Cubs get one of the Reds' top ten prospects, I might have to drive to Chicago and give Theo and Jed some hugs.
  12. Not really getting these Randy Wells comparisons. Wood is almost 5 years younger (and is still 2 years younger than Wells was when he had his great year) and has better #'s in the minors along with the aforementioned strike outs.
  13. Honest question... Is there any actual evidence to back up the old "get more for pitchers/relievers/lefties at the deadline" theory? I'd be really interested to know. In this case, I'd think Marshall would have quite a bit more value now because at the deadline he'd only be under team control for half of a season. good point... didn't consider that. Just to play devil's advocate, couldn't the increased need of a team in a close race balance out, if not overcome the value of an extra half a year?
  14. i bet cespedes is really excited to leave cuba and find out what north america is like hahaha
  15. So the Cubs, when acting aggressively, are unable to compete with the Rangers financially? I know, new TV deal, blah blah blah, but come on. There is no reason why, if they really wanted to, the Cubs couldnt spend $52 mil on a posting bid for a Japanese player. Is this supposed to be an actual argument? You're relying entirely on the hindsight of knowing what it would take to be the winning bid.
  16. Quite possibly. That'd be a great thing for someone to do a front page article about.
  17. Per le rotoworld: How do you guys feel about this? As great of a value as Sean Marshall has been for the Cubs, logic dictates that as soon as you can get prospects for a reliever, you do it. Toronto seems to need another lefty reliever. Could the Cubs package them Garza and Marshall for a boatload of prospects?
  18. Jim, you're supposed to use Chrome Incognito for those sites.
