    Well, as much as people complain (myself included) about Murton getting less AB, we have a good problem in LF. We're going to get good offensive production out of LF this season.

    There's a big difference between a manager who wants something and a manager who will enforce something. Each manager enforces their pitchers to throw strikes. If they dont throw strikes, they wont be pitching for them anymore. Dusty didn't enforce anything.

    This approach should really help Zambrano, who has phenomenal stuff, but tends to waste a lot of pitches not being near the strike zone.

    I'd rather have Z, Oswalt, or Carpenter over Zito. Zito's team didn't have the bank to offer Zito anything in the range of what Carpenter and Oswalt got from their clubs. If an ace goes to FA, they can ask for Zito money. If they want to talk extensions with a current club, Carpenter and Oswalt should be the comparables.

    You and Triple B might be right - having Soriano be the everyday CF would solve many problems. But, I'm just looking at it from the point of view of what if it doesn't work out. What if the conclusion in late March is that Soriano can't handle CF and is better suited for RF? Then you bite the bullet and wait for Pie. You might just call him up for his defense, give him the ABs, and think of any offensive production he gives you as a bonus.

    Why not? Because the stereotype is against it? No, because it's inefficient. DeRosa and/or Murton will still be in the lineup to put up a similar OBP with less power, making them more appropriate for the 2 spot against RHP. It's not about OBP. It's about putting your best hitters in the right spots. The idea that you should just stick high OBP/low SLG guys in the first two spots is ridiculous. Your best hitters should be in the 1, 2, and 4 spots. Is Jones a top 3 hitter on this team? Nope, but he's a great deal better than DeRosa/Izturis. Murton, DeRosa, and Izturis probably belong 6-7-8 in our lineup as they're the 6th, 7th, and 8th ranked hitters on our team.

    We're not going to have any clue about the lineup until we figure out if Soriano can play CF or not. I hope Soriano can play CF, otherwise the Orange Dude is going to see a serious cut in playing time.

    Yeah, Izturis hasn't showed up yet. He's probably got achey bones like I do. . Izturis is there. The only guys that aren't there so far are ARam, Ward, Cedeno and a couple minor leaguers that aren't going to make the opening day roster. link
