Sizemore Tejada Santana Bay Cordero Drew Sheets Young Liriano isn't going to pitch for at least 1 full season. I wouldn't keep Furcal over Drew, especially since you have Tejada. Might as well keep the long term option with the short term starter already in the fold.

Thanks for your input. I just saw Josh Johnson has a sore triceps, so I think I'll drop him. If Prior and Harden show up reasonably healthy, I think my pitching staff will do ok. But we all know how that goes... :lol: I definitely need another closer. You're right about that.

I like your team, Roast. Murton and Milledge should be dropped just b/c of lack of AB. I like Kendrick a lot. DLee should have a very nice year. JD Drew is going to score a ton of runs in Boston's lineup and should add to his HR totals. Zach Duke isn't my favorite. He's likely to suffer in terms of K, WHIP, and W, so I don't know if he'd be my fantasy choice. Have you looked at Lincecum and Bailey? I think one of those two guys are going to be this year's Liriano. 8-)

Quit hatin'. :evil: I know you were talking to CiNY but it isn't hating a player as I'm sure Miller is as a nice guy as any but it's a business move I wouldn't have made. Naw, that's cool. I just happen to disagree with you on the Miller signing. But I clearly remember CiNY being fine with this move at the time it was announced. It's pretty disingenuous to about face on the move now, especially since the reasons CiNY listed in his post were just as valid when the Miller signing was announced.

When you're trying to build a team up through FA, you have to make those low cost / potentially high return moves. We could go the other route and just trade away our prospects... Or use the prospects. Honestly, has this type of activity really worked? It takes away a roster spot and also takes away some young guy from getting innings too. I see a lot of complaints about Perez and his 2.5 and Macias and his contract but these guys that don't come close to panning out get a free ride from complaints. And I really don't consider all the money the Cubs have spent on Miller to really be low cost. Well, harping on millions spent on crappy vet bench options is one thing. Harping on a similar amount of money spent on potentially dominant bullpen or rotation arm is another. Has this type of activity ever worked? Chris Carpenter. A couple million may sound like a lot, but it's only a few percentage points of the Cubs payroll.

So did Jason DuBois. And where is your information for this? That's conjecture, plain and simple. I'm sorry, but that is way out of line. His minor league career OPS is .692. Last year, in 534 ABs, he put up a .610 OPS. His OBP was .271 and his K/BB total was 17/109. I actually agree with his defensive skills, and think those errors were just flukes. But he's looking like a Neifi Perez at best right now. Jason Dubois shouldn't be compared with Cedeno. They have nothing in common. Any time I saw Cedeno (BP and FP) he looked lackadaisical. Not to mention Bruce saying he needed to do some growing up. So no, it's not just conjecture. It's pretty silly to use his minor league career numbers when he showed so much offensive progression as he advanced through the system. He was a whopping 17 when he was playing rookie ball for the Cubs and didn't really start turning it on until AA after a decent start in rookie ball. Sorry he didn't take off right away. That shouldn't be held against him. His K/BB was trending in the right direction the last few seasons before his first full season in the majors. Give the kid a break. Has Cedeno ever OPSed .800+? Yup, in rookie ball and AAA. It's not so far fetched. And Bill James projected Cedeno to hit .310/.358/.442/.800 last season. Bill James must have been on some pretty strong drugs when he made that prediction. It was determined from his minor league numbers and a handful of AB in the majors. Pure statistical projections. Again, it's not far fetched at all to think that Ronny Cedeno can put up .800 OPS in the major leagues. Will he this season or next season? Probably not, but the potential is there.

Wilken's running the draft now. I wouldn't rely too much on past Cubs' draft history.

I'm interested in seeing how Colvin climbs the list in coming years. I think we're about to see a power explosion from him this season.

I am sorry the Cubs sell their tickets so far below market value. Why can't people look at it like getting a huge discount buying directly from the Cubs? That's what it is. Capitalism is grand.
