    Derrek Lee has suddenly remembered how to hit, it seems. After many cries for him to be benched in favor of Micah Hoffpauir, Lee has finally started swinging the bat. He's got his OPS up near .800 now. It's not great at all, but he's certainly come a long way since his awful start. He's had a 1.002 OPS after having one below .600 in April and March. So, what do we expect from here on out? I think the obvious answer is somewhere in between. Does that leave us with a decent .820-.840 OPS player? I certainly wouldn't mind that, after all the fears that he was going to continue being a black hole all year.

    So, Carlos Zambrano is awesome. How he could not be anyone's favorite player is beyond me. Discuss.

    Carlos Zambrano continues to be one of few consistently enjoyable players on the Cubs. I'm glad he finally got win #100. Even if he's tailing off, he's still solid, and just about the most entertaining player the Cubs have had since Sosa.

    Have there been ANY rumors about him signing somewhere? I grew to love him last year, and it boggles the mind that he hasn't found a home yet.

    Except for third, can anyone think of a better way to upgrade the offense than this route? We're not upgrading at catcher, first, short, center, or right. There's just no way. An upgrade at second that simply replaces Fontenot... well, who is out there? Dan Uggla? Moving Soriano back to second seems to be the only way to open up trading possibilities. 3rd is where we need the most help, and 3rd is where the most available trade targets are. I dont know how handcuffed the ownership situation has Jim, but surely he can do something. Im starting to wish Cuban would just pull a hostile takeover. But what happens to the third baseman we acquire once Rammy comes back?

    Why are you even here? It's really unfair for so many of you to claim to hate/not care about this team and then not follow through. This team has lost 9 of 11. Those 2 wins were a 5th inning rain shortened game and a 8th inning win against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Doesn't change the fact that your presence isn't adding anything positive. What's there to be positive about when your team has lost 9 of 11? There's not much to be positive about with the team, but there is a way to make a positive contribution to the board. You certainly haven't, as evidenced by several posts in this thread.

    Did Andres Blanco kick your dog or something? We get it. You don't like Andres Blanco. The horse is dead already replace kick with sucks, replace your with at, replace dog with baseball and you've got your answer. Hendry has made his share of bad moves. Bringing up Blanco when they had nobody else able to back up Theriot isn't one of them. Not even close. Don't let common sense get in the way of a silly grudge.

    I doubt I'm the only one that hadn't noticed what he's doing in Texas. He's currently batting .288/.430/.562 in 93 PAs for a 157 OPS+. Granted, it's a small sample size, but it's already more production than he had with LA.

    The move to DC has been nothing short of a disaster for the organization. Attendance has been consistently low even with a brand new ballpark, and the results on the field have been nothing short of embarrassing. They are not even taking a small chunk out of the market of the Orioles, who have also been quite bad during the Nationals' tenure in Washington. If the Orioles get good first, and it's hard to imagine they won't, they might just take every fan in the DC metro area. Something needed to be done about the situation in Montreal. It wasn't working. But, given the chance, do you think MLB would redo it's selection of Washington DC as the remedy for what ailed the franchise? I certainly do.

    No, no it wouldn't. I know you're an optimist but let's be real. This team hasn't won a playoff game together. I think it's time to rebuild and build up our farm system. If someone offers great prospects for one of our players and we continue to look like we have this week, you take the deal in a heartbeat. It's time to rebuild and build a world series champion. Come on.
