He's having a rough year, but John Danks absolutely isn't a mediocre pitcher. He's a good pitcher with really good stuff, but has been very inconsistent this year. Correct me if I'm wrong but his problems start when he has control issues. The cubs have severely regressed their plate discipline this year so it makes sense he's doing so well today. From what I understand his stuff has been fine, and his control has been terrible. So yes, the Cubs are exactly what the doctor ordered for him.
