  1. Am I crazy for thinking that when we had Izturis playing every day Lou was trying Theriot at third, in the outfield, and other positions where his arm would be hilariously exposed?
  2. How does he do that? By hitting singles off the wall, and turning doubles into singles because he doesn't run hard? I know that you can create runs by being a good base runner, but I don't think Fonzie is the greatest base runner around... Team runs are extremely important. Individual runs, though, do not show anything about a player's skill that his other stats don't tell us. It's a fairly pointless stat as far as grading a player, IMHO. Who cares if he's a good base runner when he's hitting doubles off the wall constantly? That was his point. And again, you're oversimplifying that they mean by runs.
  3. Alright I'll let them know.
  4. Definitely Lilly.
  5. You're choosing an overly simplistic definition of "generate runs."
  6. How about another grand slam by Riot?
  7. Continuing to bring up the playoffs is an argument that isn't going to win any debates here, man.
  8. The Cubs have really hit the ball hard. Just not hard enough I guess.
  9. Is there a point where Lou should consider taking Harden out of the rotation in favor of Marshall?
  10. From the Cubs: Jake Fox is still a bat with no position. Randy Wells will eventually turn into a pumpkin. at AAA: Chris Robinson could be expendable since the Cubs have a relatively young Soto and Clevenger at AAA plus Wellington Castillo if he hits any at AA. at AA: Tyler Colvin has hit well at Tenn. Not that the Cubs would throw him in for just anybody but they did just use the #1 pick on a cf and there are doubts that Colvin can stick in CF. Quite the contrary, Fox has shown the he can handle 3rd base and he hasn't looked that bad in the OF either. Sure he won't win a gold glove, but his defense problems have been greatly exaggerated. Based on what, exactly? He's been up here for a short time. He has a large body of work that indicates he's a butcher.
  11. If there's a position we can upgrade, it's this one. The question is; where do we look? Are there any rumors out there? Some names that could be thrown around are Dan Uggla, Freddy Sanchez, Mark Teahen, and Felipe Lopez. There's more as well, but those really come to mind.
  12. Fuld as in the guy that isn't a good hitter? I'd say that makes him a bad candidate. Fuld as in the hot hand. Besides, we all know it will only last a few games, so why not experiment. Because it's a bad idea. Because Sorianos .292 OBP has been working out so well for us at leadoff. So let's just put someone we know isn't good there? Why not put someone who is like, good?

  15. Doesn't Fossum throw an eephus pitch from time to time? That'd be fun to watch.
  16. Sam Fuld + ejection = fiery spark
  17. I didn't even read what you said because the answer is pretty obviously Fox were it to come down to one or the other.
  18. Lou is strongly implying it in his press conference.
  19. The Brewers got a couple calls - we deserved one.
  20. I'd take two. He's got no control.
  21. Down 2-0 I'd just walk him at this point...
  22. Walking Bradley to get to Soto? Okay by me. Though they'll probably walk him too.
