  1. Corey Patterson, traded from the Cubs to the Orioles Eric Patterson, traded from the Cubs to the Orioles Interesting.
  2. Don't care, we've got a handful of options, don't care, yes.
  3. WilcoFan with what should be a thread ending post.
  4. why would he feel any obligation not to go to the team he feels he fits best? why is it classless to go elsewhere in the division? It's a slap in the face to the Cubs fans that idolized him. You know the people that paid for the tickets, bought his jersey, etc. The city of Chicago and Cubs fans made him rich - and we've been waiting (and paying) for a long time for him to get healthy. If he wanted to repay a little bit of what he's been given by all of us he could have taken a two-year incentive laden deal. How about a little loyalty? If he comes back in the 2nd half of 08 pitching for another team in the same division it only magnifies things. Take your smug expressions and get out of town Mark. Things Mark Prior has given Cubs fans and management 657 IP 757 Ks, 223 BBs, 3.51 ERA, 1.225 WHIP 123 ERA+ Going out and pitching through pain for what appears to have been the majority of his Cubs career. Some of the things Cubs fans and management have given Mark Prior Hilarious towel jokes Hilarious vagina jokes Hilarious ten cent head jokes Shameless abuse of his arm Scapegoating for the loss in '03 Insinuations of being a headcase Insinuations of being soft(not the word often used, but that one wouldn't pass the filter) Insinuations of being on steroids Insinuations of being a cocky, spoiled jerk Loyalty indeed. He's a high profile professional athlete. Do you think the treatment by 'that' segment of fans would have been different elsewhere? New York? Boston? Philly? LA? And it's not just big markets - I go to Brewer games and they're not exactly nice when a guy isn't performing. You're going to find fans that say and do things like that everywhere. I supported the guy until it became obvious he wasn't going to stick around. If every fan base is going to treat him the same, why should he care what we think or what he owes us? He's more comfortable elsewhere.
  5. what? Look at the way Kerry handled himself while rehabbing - and once he was healthy again. IMO - Mark's a jerk. Have you met Mark? I have. I don't think it's much of a stretch to call him a jerk. I just don't think that he deserves any venom for it. He's not malicious, he's just not a people person.
  6. ERA+ of 172? Christ, that's just frigging amazing. The Cubs would already have won a World Series since 2003 if Prior was durable. No doubt about it.
  7. I'm not sure what Prior has done to suggest he's not classy. Is he personable? No, not really. Is he even a nice guy? Doesn't seem like it. However, that comment was pretty much baseless.
  8. Actually, interesting is about the most I can say.
  9. Yes, gay jokes are sooooooo funny. Yes, almost as funny as all the racist or anti-semetic jokes we could be making instead. Almost. #-o
  10. http://nationalpost.pa-sportsticker.com/default.aspx?s=mlb-news-display&nid=A40881931197515577A Any interest?
  11. I'm not sure I'd consider it good if it was $9mil/year. Especially for five years.
  12. Roberts will be here soon.
  13. Can anyone post the video where he throws the guy out at first? Please?
  14. I'd be wildly disappointed if he didn't draw a single walk all year. .349/40-45 HRs/50 SB/.482 OBP
  15. "Just think, that temp agency could have sent you anywhere." "I think about that all the time." Temp! Temp! Temp!... Ryan! Ryan! Ryan!
  16. Honestly? A lot. 95ish.
  17. My money would be on Bedard being the first one out.
  18. Your guess is as good as mine. If the Cubs land Fukudome, I think they will be more willing to trade Pie especially if Colvin is progressing. Hendry keeps saying Pie is untouchable, but I got to believe if Hendry becomes desperate for Brian Roberts, he'll put Pie in that deal. With Pie, Theriot and the pitcher's spot, the lineup has 3 automatic outs (save for Z). Theriot is now an "automatic out?" Pretty close to it.
  19. April/March: .299 .347 .328 May: .256 .330 .367 June: .224 .272 .276 July: .348 .437 .483 August: .276 .315 .353 September: .202 .257 .263 Which one of these is not like the other? Hint: It's July. That's not a couple unproductive months. That's all unproductive months save one good one and one mediocre one.
  20. A K/BB ratio has absolutely nothing to do with production. It's meaningless to this discussion. You also can't merely replace Theriot's 2007 numbers with Greene's 2007 numbers. It's a fairly baseless comparison. You must take into account Greene's home park, and how much that hinders his overall numbers. We're talking about one 27 year old player with a career OPS+ of 101, and another 27 year old player with an OPS+ of 83. It's an enormous difference that the SB numbers don't even come close to compensating for. That is true, plus you have to believe that Greene would probably post 25 HR plus for the next 3 years. I agree, now is this increase in production worth trading Rich Hill for even if you were just playing for next year. Potential be damned Is the difference between Joe-SS and Greene => to the difference between Hill and Marquis or Dempster or Marshall whomever would replace him in the depth chart? I'm not sure where you get this idea it would take Rich Hill to get Greeene. No one is advocating that.
  21. Okay, now he's officially officially coming. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/baseball/mlb/12/11/bc.as.spt.bbl.fukudome.majors.ap/index.html
