  1. the article I read didn't say ruled out so much as undecided. Basically it implied the club wanted to keep him but he might demand to leave. meh.
  2. Dest getting thrown under the bus for not stopping Mbappe. Seems pretty harsh to me as he was not at fault for any of the goals and even slowing Mbappe down 1v1 is a big ask.
  3. PSG? I mean, if you can consider Liverpool a contender, you have to consider PSG one. Also, Athletico - did you forget last year already? I will be shocked if Liverpool gets anywhere near the final. I don't mean to imply it's a foregone conclusion or particularly easy, just that outside of Bayern and City, if Liverpool do get back into form over those ~2 months, none of the other remaining teams I would consider clear favorites against them. Which stands in stark contrast to the justifiable negativity of how their winter has gone domestically. that makes sense as it allows the inverse as well.
  4. Yeah it's funny how one performance can shift the window for perception so much. Two bad giveaways from Leipzig and now Liverpool is in commanding position to advance, and the quarterfinals don't start for ~7 weeks so they have a lot of time to get healthy(Fabinho/Jota), get guys in form(Alisson) or up to speed(Kabak) and maybe make a proper run at the final since the only big landmines out there are Bayern and City. 5. I'll guess you'll get that on Barca-PSG - not looking good on other game. man, dembele needs to provide better help for Dest. Adams also gets the start.
  6. Champions League is back! Happy day! Seems like all the good R16 matches are this week starting with Barca-PSG and Leipzig-Liverpool today. Porto-Juventus and Sevilla-Dortmund tomorrow. All four of those are interesting. Next week's are Lazio-Bayern and Athletico-Chelsea on Tuesday - hard to see Lazio or Chelsea being competitive there. Wednesday next week is Gladbach-Man City (could be fun) and Atalanta and Real Madrid. The Wednesday matchups could prove interesting.
  7. I don't think he's the problem at all but not playing is a problem for him.
  8. increasingly concerned about Pulisic and playing time. Starting to feel like managers just don't like him. Would he better off at a lower level team like an Everton or even Leicester where he will get more playing time?
  9. They needed a mudder. Not being able to play out against Barnsley pretty well sums up Chelsea's midfield.
  10. Spurs played an 8 goal game?
  11. how does smaller zone result in more balls in play? Sounds like just more walks and the end of Kyle Hendricks.
  12. so, reduces home runs without decreasing strike outs? Seems pointless to me. strike outs are boring - home runs aren't. Those things don't happen in a vacuum, Home runs and strike outs are correlated even if it isn't a perfectly linear relationship. yes, but softening the ball won't do anything to reduce strike outs unless you believe hitters will adjust to make more contact. Don't see that happening quickly so this change will likely result in the same strikeouts but fewer home runs. assuming they turn into outs, which may not be the case, this will make the game even more boring. for me, walks and strike outs are boring. home runs are good, although triples are more exciting.

  14. meh. I would certainly get more interested in MLS if I didn't have to go San Jose to see a game. https://www.indomitablecitysoccer.com/2021/1/11/22223679/weve-seen-mls-expansion-bumps-before-dont-panic-sacramento-republic-fans
  15. So does Steffen get the start tomorrow up against Arriola and Morris? #AmericansinEurope
  16. https://www.espn.com/soccer/chelsea/story/4310481/chelseas-pulisic-kept-out-with-family-issue-tuchel He isn't even in the squad today.
  17. Where is Pulisic?
  18. Complete Alisson meltdown ends premier league race . . . my aim is true.
  19. watched the first half of leipzig-schalke. Pretty impressed with Hoppe given that he is the entirety of the schalke attack. He gets to and holds on to the ball with no support.
  20. so is he maddux or pedro?
  21. I expected 0-0. Especially after CP didn't start. We'll see if City and Liverpool can play an interesting game.
  22. What are his reasons? He already knows him?
  23. I always think of Ryan Theriot with Mason Mount. Though to be fair, effort matters a lot more in soccer and he is probably a better soccer player than Theriot was baseball player.
  24. Alonso? WTF?
  25. Awfully nice of you to call Spurs a real team. Aren't they on same level as Chelsea with the main difference that Chelsea tries to attack?
