  1. Rigid position descriptions aren't a great thing really - the key is getting players the ball in positions where they can maximize their impact. So much tougher for a national team that barely gets to train together.
  2. watched this last night. Dest actually played pretty well in my assessment. Having Dembele in front of him limits him going forward but he combined well and moved the ball. Naive on the penalty give away - the forward beat him around the corner then cut in front of him and dove to the ground. Definitely a dive but backs can't allow themselves to be put in that spot. He'll learn from it I'm sure.
  3. ugh, he just gave up a game tying penalty.
  4. Dest on for Barcelona in the 57th. Sergi Roberto is back and started. Hopefully not how this always plays out but better than being behind Mingueza as well. Not sure how he is doing although Barca came back from 2-0 down after he hit the field.
  5. The Big Ten better get a game on the schedule for Illinois... That'll be 3 games cancelled all because of issues on the opponents' side (though I know UM's team itself didn't have any cases) Having the lead, Michigan's plan is to not play any more big ten games this season.
  6. Is that how he plays for the national team? With Berhalter I think he's been more of a wide creator or more of a pure 10. That said, if he can do that(I'd be a little worried about him getting hurt again fighting center backs every week) that would be an elegant solution to the USMNT's #9 dilemma, since the winger pool is a lot further along than the strikers. might be tough against top teams as he isn't much of a hold-up player, is he? that said, cbs won't be able to press him aggressively once he gets the ball. How similar is that to how Hazard played (speaking of injuries Hazard now being mocked by Burger King)?
  7. Messi reportedly makes 138M euros annually. So, yea.
  8. Gio too - hopefully he doesn't get goaded into a stupid red. Dortmund lined up with Haaland, Sancho, and Reyna today and it was effective. Sancho looked like last year's version. I think the Man U - Arsenal game is a good example of why I increasingly am losing interest in the premier league. The marquee matchups are just boring. Similar game in the Bundesliga between Dortmund and Monchengladback was 2-2 at halftime . . .
  9. Well taking what he told CP at face value, he told him he has a much better handle on what Christian can do than any of the other young attackers he hasn't already worked with and he wanted to see what he was working with, particular with C.H-O. & Havertz. I am enjoying the Wes love fest. Makes sense. Aaron Long to Liverpool?!?
  10. doesnt tuchel like pulisic? the biggest worry for him right now is Odoi is in form (though tuchel played him at WB so who knows how he fits the puzzle together) Not sure how in form he can be given the tepid attack from Chelsea. Not a great sign when a new coach comes in and sits you but who knows what the thinking was.
  11. hopefully CP doesn't get comfortable there . . .
  12. This is probably the closest to what you're looking for? I've seen a couple people with these although I've never had one personally so I can't say if it's any good or not. ProActive Sports Groove Cleaner thx
  13. https://www.espn.com/soccer/united-states-usa/story/4294781/norwich-city-recall-us-international-sebastian-soto-from-telstar-loan Soto to Norwich to compete against Morris. Konrad sighting for Barca.
  14. I guess folks are starting to understand the VVD's value was really allowing everyone else to go forward and press.
  15. Bayern got bounced in the DFB Pokal by a second tier side this week as well. Barca just missed a penalty 0-0 at Cornella. I think coaches (if they don't get sacked) are probably happy to be out of these cups given the workload.
  16. meanwhile, Real Madrid gets bounced from the Copa Del Rey by Alcoyano . . .
  17. What a world. I don't know how complete his game is, but he's definitely got the late run behind-finish at pace down horsefeathers pat. He's on a one-year deal, btw. Kids going to have options if he wants them. MLS is getting seriously scouted now and I think as much as Pulisic has to do with that, MLS owners becoming much more reasonable about transfer fees and playing ball with agents is a bigger part of it. He was pissed he didn't get the ball on his run - good finish on a sloppy goal (terrible defending).
  18. Hoppe scores again. Hard to see how Hunterlaar replaces him for now . . .
  19. anyone have a good suggestion on a portable club cleaner? It's gotten muddy and it hasn't even started raining yet. Would be nice if it doubles as a ball cleaner since those are all shuttered.
  20. but they're friends, what can go wrong?
  21. He's the soccer version of "Is Cate Blanchett good or is she just tall?" He can feel free to find his Thor: Ragnarok anytime now. Lost in all the Werner misses and chances killed is the fact that Kai Havertz has been very pedestrian, when he's actually been fit to play. the german game IS different. And much more fun to watch.
  22. Am I the only one who really cannot stand to see players grabbed from behind any more? I think these need to become straight reds. So cynical and ruins the game.
  23. It’s about Haaland’s bargain of a release clause ($90m) and the fact that City Group had a big role in Reyna’s development at NYCFC, they let him walk to Dortmund on a free, and if they ever want to build their American brand around him, which many people think they do, they better strike soon before he becomes an incredibly expensive transfer. I am not a city fan, but it seems the time is right for them to grab both, while they’re already working on the Haaland deal/his personal terms. but the release clause doesn't matter if multiple teams are willing to exceed it.
  24. but then he has more bundesliga goals this season than Sargent, doesn't he? Yeah, Sargent just has the one this year. If Sargent were even in remotely decent form I’d group him with Jozy/Zardes, but he hasn’t had so much time on the national team that he can’t fall off the radar between performance issues and alternatives popping up. I don't watch Bremen so hard to know the story on Sargent. They aren't a strong team but have done better than last year. I kind of suspect it would be good for him to move on to where he might be a better fit (totally not informed opinion but that's the sense when a striker never scores).
  25. Those are great goals by Hoppe for a terrible team. The finished on the first and third are fantastic and the movement and timing on the second. Schalke is going down though.
