  1. or 60 . . .
  2. he looks 45 in the outfield
  3. what the hell is the point of that? Especially with one out. Isn't it better to let the pitcher try and hit a weak groundball?
  4. That's kind of strange. Despite the reputation, Zambrano isn't really that much of a strikeout pitcher. I mean, he gets his fair share, but he's not really a threat to lead the league in K's unless he leads the league in innings pitched as well. In the minors he was at around 7.4 K/9, in the pros he's been around 7.7 K/9. This year he's been at 9.99 K/9. does anyone have the numbers on his peformance relative to his walks? It seems like when he gets a lot of ks he struggles but that might be a biased perception.
  5. indeed. its particularly bad given that lee is halfway back. mabry hitting fifth again? WTH!?!?
  6. Wow, I would think Jones hot streak would move him ahead of the inept mabry.
  7. The cost would be the reason not to add both. I would have to be convinced the Cubs can contend this year before I add either. They aren't difference makers, they are role players. Bad teams don't trade prospects for role players.
  8. had nothing to do with the down and away movement of his fastball last night either.
  9. he's starting - he wants the record at home.
  10. joe girardi? overrated yes but . . .
  11. News: Coco Crisp has been ill recently, which has set him back a few days in his recovery from a broken left index finger. Crisp, on the DL since April 9, was originally supposed to be back sometime next week. But now, his return probably will be pushed back four to five days. See? Its not just the cubs. Seems like there are a lot of sick players this year. Rolen, Helton . . .
  12. its a commercial . . .
  13. You can't help but wonder if Prior stopped taking some of the supplements that House apparently pushes on young pitchers and now has to build up strength honestly to maintain his recovery time. This is pure speculation based on what I've read about House recently.
  14. in Prior's case this is a really good idea. he clearly has some issues in muscle development or fatigue. Hopefully they have him on a training regimen that will help prevent these nagging injuries.
  15. If so, then it's one of the first prudent decisions this front office has made. If we can fix them, we have the best 1-2-3 in the NL. I think that is the plan. Seeing Carlos pulled tonight was also encouraging. Machismo didn't win out for once.
  16. I think the Cubs are trying to fix these two for good. ie don't rush them.
  17. you would think a show dedicated just to baseball could find some analysts that know something about baseball.
  18. on pujols first inning homerun, "he knows, he's been pitching me outside all day, so he reaches out . . ." its the first inning! Do you really need to over-analyze albert? He's just really fricggin' good. Kruk's analysis is much better - "you pitch it, he hits it."
  19. he had a ton of movement tonight, based on the four at bats I saw anyway.
  20. Not me If the Cubs win the next 11 in a row, I'll change my name to Douchbag McWussenstien and have Richard Simmons in my avatar for the rest of my days here at NSBB. you'll be banned - modzilla hate richard simmons
  21. Not me in a surprising development, wood prior and lee will be activated tomorrow, jones and pierre have been traded for giles and jones
