  1. btw Tim, I've posted your last sentence on the bulletin board. Only one team has scored over 250 every week you know - I guess they have just been hot for 9 weeks . . .
  2. whoever you play next week gets each twice too. you almost cut the lead in half over the last two hours last night. I've told the boys they need to shoot for 400. We're straight up on starts the rest of the way and I'm down by well over 40 points. Heck, it's not like my team could possibly pitch any better than they have! My offense could turn up the heat to make things a bit closer, but I think it's quite a long shot for me to come back and win that this point. Oh well, as long as I score 300 points a week, I'll take the occasional loss against someone who is on fire as your team has been all week long. Longshot perhaps but certainly not unpossible. if my offense keeps going it will be pretty tough for you to come back. I need Hafner and Konerko to get it going. Long way to go.

  4. Lee will likely need days off coming off the injury.
  5. not that anyone else is doing anything either.
  6. its amazing that with pierre and neifi 1-2, the cubs haven't scored. well, it is eric milton isn't it?
  7. I have to assume that Perez is a toolsy type dude. perez is worse than bynum.
  8. yes, the cubs DL is getting short on pitchers quickly.
  9. how many time do the marlins and diamondbacks have to succeed with it? The problem is the players aren't there to spend the money on.
  10. denver loves corey's defense . . . Corey isn't a gold glover. his arm is ok but not great and he gets poor reads on flyballs. if he were slower, he would be a very bad centerfielder.
  11. Plus the Astros believe that is $12 million that will push them over the top to win the world series. I would certainly spend that for one player if I believed that player could win me the world series.
  12. Yeah, I know. I was making a futile attempt at sarcastic wit. the situation is not funny. are you making light of my suffering? incidentally, corey will not sustain those numbers. I doubt he'll keep up the batting average unless he further reduces the k's. But I think the secondary numbers can all stay where they're at. they will go down with the BA. Still, I think for a CF he will be decent. He is overrated defensively though - at least around here.
  13. Yeah, I know. I was making a futile attempt at sarcastic wit. the situation is not funny. are you making light of my suffering? incidentally, corey will not sustain those numbers.
  14. QS is a silly stat in many ways - big picture it is generally indicative though. we'll get rid of it next year and boost the pitcher scoring by inning. I've always felt that pitchers should only be partially charged for runs that relievers allow to score - ie if you leave a guy on first and he scores, you get 1/4 run and the reliever gets 3/4.
  15. see? Hoffman saves makes for a perfect ending. now if only it were sunday . . .
  16. I don't think he, or anyone else, can rob a homerun at wrigley.
  17. he is over 100 pitches so I doubt he'll finish the game. better get hoffman in for the save.
  18. payton brings in crosby with a two run shot off sisco. I'm almost to a season high on hitters points. hopefully the bookends get it going soon so I can hold you off - no doubt your offense can post similar numbers.
  19. my A's are now 6-6 with two singles, two doubles, and two homeruns, 3 runs scored and 4 rbi.
  20. or is it chavez? The A's are employing the two SS defense right now . . .
  21. ah crap, is crosby hurt again!?!?!?
  22. well, at least they can still fail to score with the bases loaded and nobody out. I was starting to not recognize this team.
  23. yea, I told them we were down two starts so they had to make up the gap.
  24. I'm the 2005 cubs - all solo homers! still better solo homers than no homers!
  25. vernon getting it done tonight! and swisher too.
