I don't even think Virigina knows what year it is. I'm convinced someone else within the organization is having an influence on football operations(i.e keeping Michael locked down stairs). Possibly the McKenna's? It's Angelo, and Phillips. Why is this so difficult for people to understand? The Bears haven't been cheap, as goony says, since McCaskey stepped back and Angelo was given full-time GM control. It's old news. Repeating it over & over doesn't make it new. Who fired Mike McCaskey? It wasn't Virginia I can tell you that. Someone forced that move.

Why? Hes the best GM in Chicago. Yeah I have no problems at all with Angelo's deal. Of course Flames24Rulz wouldn't like it....he's a packer fan :) Nothing with being a Packer fan. I would just be unwilling to give ANY GM a six year extension. The Packers should have given Ron Wolfe a 30 year extension. Dude was $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

I dont know where that comment came from. I don't think anyone has blindly defended him. The only times I see people really defend his moves is when people jump to the conclusion that he should be fired. I think he's done a wonderful job turning this team around and making us into a perenial playoff team. I think Skiles should play Tyrus Thomas more, but that has nothing to do with Paxson. Paxson has assembled a pretty solid team that can compete in the present and still have a very bright future. I'm pleased with the job he's done so far. It isn't hard to assemble a perianial playoff team, especially in the east. I'm still convinced he doesn't understand the concept of inside scoring. To be fair, he hasn't had many chances at inside scoring in drafts (and as I remember, you wanted Brandon Roy over Tyrus Thomas - TT is much more of an inside presence). There are reasons to criticize Paxson - but I think your way of comparing him to other Chicago GMs based on championship game appearances isn't that great. Also, we don't truly know exactly what Jerry West and the Grizzlies were asking for Gasol, I have no problem in not parting with a combo of Deng and another valuable player on the team as some rumors indicated. Paxson has done a commendable job building up a young team from nothing, he has certainly made a few mistakes but which GM doesn't? I wanted either Alridge or Roy. Either would have been fine by me. As someone has previously stated, Roy or Gordon could have been spun for a big guy. He fumbled the football last draft. Bottom line.

But we could have used Roy to get a big man, by trading Roy himself or Gordon. Roy is the total package. He has all 3 offensive aspects: He can score with is back to the basket He is a great shooter He can drive and create. Plus he is a good defender.

He was drafting brilliantly, don't ask me what happened this last draft.

We are not comparing players, we are comparing GM's and the quaility of team they have built, respective to their league.

Some other poster was saying for the past week how pax should be fired because he didnt draft roy. And then make some trade he wanted to see made where we lose Deng to get Gasol paxson is the best GM in the city. And Deng > Gasol Angelo is the best GM in Chicago, and it isn't even close. When Paxson builds a team that can make it to the Finals, then I'd say open the debate. Angelo has been to the playoffs 2 straight years, the Bulls are working on 3. Angelo has been to his leagues respective final round. Paxson has not.
