  1. I suggest everyone DVR this game. The Cubs are using thier weekly quota of runs today.
  2. And as I explained above, Soriano is being payed partly because he is FAST. They aren't paying Aramis to run. Part of the silliness over Aramis' purported lack of hustle was that the difference 99% of the time was his being thrown out by 3 feet or by 5 feet. Soriano's speed, on the other hand, is the difference between him being safe/out and determines which base he ends up on. BTW, Aramis has hustled every game I've seen so far. I can think of 10 occasions off the top of my head where I've wondered why Soriano was giving up on plays before he left the batters box. Agree on Aram. I don't have the quote of hand but IIRC he sad something in ST like.."People think I don't hustle, but in reality, I'm just slow" Good enough for me.
  3. Fat Froeming got him suspended. c'mon, be serious. Kicking dirt on an umpire got him suspended No. It was for suposedly making contact which was unnecessary since the ump got the call right. Was it childish, probably. It still doesn't change the fact that Froeming is a idiot who is making crap up.

  5. no yes...he jogged all the way to 1st base and slid for no reason into third. if he hustled out of the box it would've been very very interesting at home plate with a cutoff. He could have been very easily out. I have no problem with him playing it safe with a triple with 0 out. If it were infrequent, it wouldn't be a big deal. Not running is becoming an everyday thing with Soriano. THis seems alot like alot like the Aram bashing of last year. Despite my sn I'm not trying to sound like a Soriano apoligists. I believe he deserves every bit of criticism for his bad power #'s. I just think the "hustling" thing is very "Levine" like.

  7. Making fun of Jones is a favorite pastime of mine, don't you try to take it away from me. Agreed If that ball didn't hit Aram, that was a tailor made double play and Derosa doesn't bat in the inning. Jock has tried very hard to cost us some runs today.
  8. Actually, plate discipline has nothing to do at all with Moneyball. Moneyball philosopy is taking a commodity that the rest of the market undervalues and takes advantage of it by "buying low". Plate discipline/OBP used to be undervalued but the rest of the league (except the Cubs) have been made aware of it and so it is now being paid for at a better market rate. Yep. see JD Drew.
  9. Cubs get shut out by a phantom arm. A new low tomorrow.
  10. As soon as we all saw Will Ohman on the mound, who didnt think "Game Over." ? Anyone? When I saw Piniella leave him in vs. the righty...that is when I thought "Game Over"
  11. Another 4 RBI's for Lowell today. Boston wins 11-6.
  12. Damn, I knew eventually the time would come when Lebron and the Cav's would own the east...I just didn't think it would be this fast..
  13. It is quite common for teams to catch lightning in bottle from the minors, especially when it comes to bullpen roles.
  14. Just saw Iowa lineup no Pie! Ya baby! I'm looking forward to see Sori and Pie gunning down runners...Looking forward to tomorrow's game. I imagine the groundscrew at Wrigley is estatic as well. Less time for them replacing those "baseball" size divets in the outfield after every game.
  15. 'bout freakin time. Pencil Pie in everyday in CF, and leave the 'strap' on the bench.
  16. Plus, he is Jewish. That is fantastic.
  17. Don't know if this has been discussed, but how nice of Carlos to apolgize directly to Barrett. [expletive] jackass. Lou said he wasn't going to let them talk to each other for a few days. I guess I should have said "indirectly" at the press conference. Though Barrett didn't actually say "I'm sorry", he did speak kindly of his teamate today in the media.
