  1. If the Cubs are not gonna play Murton, maybe they can package him in a deal for Byrnes. Sorinano, Pie, Byrnes is a pretty good outfield. But isn't he an outfielder...we already have too many of them. I don't see the logic in this move, can you explain? Well, hopefully Jones will be out ASAP. Obviously they should trade Murton if they are not gonna use him, and Byrnes could play RF and give them more SLG there, which the Cubs need.

Why would you consider packaging Murton in a deal for Byrnes? If anything, they should get Byrnes plus others for Murton. I wouldn't hold my breath on that..........

  4. Who here thinks that?
  5. lol...his OBP is 1 point higher than his Avg!
  6. wow...1 walk for Mench! How is he not a Cub?!!!?
  7. Alan Trammell keeps himself in fantastic shape.
  8. Barrett really wanted to make an error on the play.
  9. They suspended his goiter.
  10. Screw you Roger.
  11. If you are playing a position with as many big producers as 1B has, then yes. Every position has its elite, its second tier, then the mediocre and space fillers types. I think it's blatantly obvious Lee was not an elite 1B prior to 2005. To argue otherwise is just laughable. Why get so offended by somebody pointing out the truth? In 2004, Lee was the 9th ranked 1B in OPS. Omar Infante was the 9th ranked SS. Are you offended if somebody says Omar wasn't elite? Raul Ibanez was the 9th ranked LF, Shawn Green was the 9th ranked RF. These guys weren't elite were they? I'm Derrek's agent........
  12. Someone I work with just said 4 games...per ESPN Radio.
  13. Ranking in the top 3rd at a position is 2nd rate? though crowd. ProPlayer Stadium killed his SLG% otherwise he probably would have ranked top 5.
  14. If he were to return to pre-Cubs DLee, you better hope he's traded. That was unimpressive second rate production for a first baseman. Saying he was 2nd rate before the Cubs is a stretch. Saying he was anything better than 2nd rate is just plain wrong. To say that a guy that who put up OPS near 900 in a pitchers paradise consistently, is 2nd rate...well that is just wrong.

  16. Remember when MacDougal threw over 100MPH? Man has he fallen.
  17. Good for the Sox. At least they have the balls to send out guys that are not performing. Hendry is such a puss when it comes to moving guys --they need to cut their losses and move on.
  18. I think there is so much negativity simply because of the track record of the Cubs and first round picks. Many of scouts have admitted that while Vitters is talented, they really dont' know where he could project power wise and might not even have 30HR potential. Just because we have hired some messiah that was all world in Toronto doesn't mean his success will translate here. It is very possible that his draft decisions could have been influenced by those scouts he was working with in Toronto, and his picks here will be influenced by opinions of Cubs scouts. Wieters is the safest pick, IMO and the most major league ready. There is nothing wrong with safe. Upside is a dangerous word. If I had a choice between getting a solid player in a draft or a AllStar in one draft and duds in 3 others, I'll take the solid player every day of the week.
  19. It is pulling teeth trying to find a SS that will project well at the professional level. IMO, I would focus on building a solid corner & 2nd, then look to fill in SS with a decent FA.
  20. That is rough...being done in by Mr. Non-Clutch himself...
  21. Which is sad considering the wasted money we have tied up in Eyre, Jones, and bitch tit.s whose remaining salary we ate. Wieters has MLB ready power and understands the concept of taking a walk. He should be ML ready by mid 08 and could replace Barrett. 4-5 years after that he could slide to first or third to ease the wear on this knees. I hate this organization.
