  1. If he's such a bright guy why did he leave Hendry as GM this past offseason? I really don't think a newly appointed interim GM would have the clout to fire any GM. Interim president perhaps? You are probably right, Andy's ill-timed Hendry extension more or less guaranteed Jim would be back this year. Beat me before I could edit.

  3. Point taken. if it were your dad that died in that car accident, and that car accident were caused by the other driver, I bet your mom wouldn't feel a lawsuit was an abuse of the judicial system. I bet your mom would not only be distraught over losing a person she loved, but she would also be wondering how she is going to keep her house, her car, and you and your siblings fed now that she no longer has your dad's income to help raise the family. I think this post really shows how you are looking at these issues with blinders on and as the other person said, imposing your values onto everyone else. I think it also shows just how out of step you are with mainstream society on many of these issues. I suggest you stop talking about my family
  4. I'm sure Dean Hancock would sue over this as well.
  5. Let me ask you this. If instead of rear-ending that towtruck, Hancock had swerved and crashed into a carful of your loved ones, killing them all instantly, who would you be suing? Just Josh Hancock? Or would you be going after all of the folks that arguably had a role in the accident? Because the list of parties that you should be seeking damages from should look the same as Dean Hancock's list (less his own son of course). ummm, I have answered this question before in this thread. A family member of mine was killed by a drunk driver, and no we did not sue.
  6. Updated list of people Dean Hancock can sue: Cell Phone Provider Drug Dealer Stripper Whoever built the road
  7. He may be overrated on defense, but that doesn't mean JJ is a better defender. Jones was below average on defense in RF last season, and now is easily one of the worst defensive CF's in all of baseball.
  8. More like a fact...Jones is not, and never was, even close to being on the same level as Hunter.
  9. depends on your definition of "better", I guess -- I'd say Jacque's actually been the better CF this year despite 2 errors to Hunter's 0 LOL..Jones cannot hold Hunter's jock(no pun intended) defensively.
  10. And another reason to draft Wieters.
  11. Zambrano for Brandon Wood.
  12. Well, have no fear...our GM is on this issue: http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070528cubsbrite,1,1452377.story?coll=cs-home-headlines " hmmm, Hendry is wondering why a guy's(who is on the wrong side of 30) #'s are regressing and the only solution is he "hopes" they will get better. No need to make a change, let's just cross our fingers....We are in good hands folks.
  13. Weren't you big on Antonelli before? Did you cool on him or did White just grow on you more? Im an Antonelli guy. White's no different than, say, hiring Tim Wilken as our GM. I'd hire Ng before white. Who's Antonelli? gah wrong surname. Im thinking of Chris Antonetti and did the name of Padres prospect, Matt Antonelli. My mistake. Actually you just copied my mistake. That's what I get for trying to recall secondary front office people from memory. Anyone know/remember the name of the system that Antonetti and Shapiro created? DiamondView
  14. Look for Dontrelle to get his ERA under 4, possibly 3 by the end of this game. What excuse are the Cubs using for getting "owned" by left handed pitching this year?
  15. Things are rough down there  .... after 4 pretty good outings to start 07, Kip Wells has been brutal. Aren't they supposed to catch lighting in a bottle with these guys?
  16. Weren't you big on Antonelli before? Did you cool on him or did White just grow on you more? Im an Antonelli guy. White's no different than, say, hiring Tim Wilken as our GM. I'd hire Ng before white. Who's Antonelli? Assistant to Shapiro in Cleveland. Regarded as one of the top GM candidates out there. Relies heavily on modern statistical methods. Sounds awesome. Pretty much guarantees the Cubs won't hire him. He probably won't even apply for the job. I have one last bit of hope because of McDounough. He strikes me as a sound business guy, so I'm hoping he will realize that this direction the Cubs need to take right now.
  17. McDonough seems like a bright guy, I pray he sees the value in hiring guy with the philosophy of Antonelli. How much wasted money do the Cubs have on their roster now? Seriosly. Antonelli can clean up the major league club, while Wilken continues to rebuild the minors.

  19. So continue on arguing that the tow druck driver and stalled car owner have a right to be sued, but you will continue to make fools of yourselves. you really don't get it, do you? There is nothing really to get. You are in the minority. Pretty much 99% of baseball fans agree bringing the tow truck driver and stalled car owner to court is assinine. But carry on. Like it or not, we have an easily accessible legal system. The problem I see with determining negligence or liability based on media and police reports up to this point, is simple --- we don't know all of the facts. I worked for a firm defending insurance cases like this and similar cases were brought against the insurance company. There were generally two outcomes: 1. There were either more facts to justify the law suit or 2. The plaintiff lost. Let the system work. Because the "system" is sooo perfect. Please  i'd love to hear some of your ideas to fix it. Less Ambulance Chasers would be a start.

  21. So he can rot on the bench? Jones or Murton needs to be moved first. Why can't Jones rot on the bench?
  22. Chris Antonetti, new Cubs GM.
