  1. Cubs have won 10 of 13 agains the Cards this year. and they are sitting in 5th place in the division.
  2. He's been traded to the Cubs for Nevin, Perez, and Rusch. I guess you could wish..LOL
  3. Pujols isnt in the lineup for the Cards today... Anyone else think this is an easy win?
  4. key word there is MIGHT
  5. He was only 5 games over .500. With the team we had I think most pitchers could have done pretty well. Hell even Rusch was pretty good that year for us. Either way this argument should be irrelevant as it was over two years ago and both Maddux and the team have gotten worse. IMHO maddux has not gotten worse. but the team definately has and that is what is making Maddux look worse. His K/9 has decreased every year. He's definetly gotten worse. everything but the ERA is his fault.... the ERA is the teams fault.... thats why I say he is still as good as he was when we brought him home in 04
  6. thats about what the Cubs offered Mr. Furcal. Free agents can ask for whatever they want, but I think Lugo and Carlos Lee are going to get less than what they want. Both of these guys might get some decent money, but I'm not sure they will get 4 or 5 year contracts. Hell. The Cubs better do whatever it takes to get at least one of them on the North Side. If they dont a lot of fans are going byebye

  8. or it could all be a business move...and they could still bring ARam back as a FA and they would be able to negotiate for a longer period of time since he would be with a different team.
  9. ok, yes.. record wise we were better. by one meesly game. and Maddux got 16 wins...... without him we may have gotten 8 wins out of that spot. depending which kid they played there......... therefore we would have ended 2004 at .500 without maddux.
  10. you wouldnt be getting something for nothing.. youd be getting nothing for something...because all I am hearing is being proposed for Maddux its Class A prospects. and Maddux is worth more than that. Cause of his future HOF status. What exactly has his hof status been worth to us the past three years? We most likely would have been below 500 in 04 without him... but its not about us... its about the fact that the team he would be traded to feels they wont make the playoffs without him.No we wouldn't have, We could have put any number of guys in that spot and still have been over. You do realize we were better in '04 than in '03, right? no we werent........ not with the injuries to prior and wood

  14. Because if we get a Class A or Class AA package in return everyone will be getting on Hendry for wasting the chance to make a steal. The thing is in season teams are not willing to let other teams "steal" their ML players. So with that in mind Maddux will be here for the long hall.
  15. east cost maybe...... AL..definately not. of the teams listed in his limited NTC as teams he would accept a trade to some are in contention... and all are in the NL
  16. ok. thanks for the info... I also did a search for article in which he was interviewed or mentioned.... and the teams that are not included in his NTC are all NL teams. so it prolly wouldnt matter
  17. I think he only opts out if they bring Dusty back.. cause he has had a few disagreeances with Dusty. dont remember specifics... but i do remember hearing about them butting heads.
  18. wow!! I agree with that. But I have a feeling Maddux will be gone within the next 48 hrs. and it may be to an AL team. That makes no sense. He has the chance to say no, and he seems to have a major dislike for the AL. Why would he allow himself to be traded to the AL? i never heard him say he dislikes the AL
  19. I'm sure teams are interested in Eyre and Howry but I don't think Hendry wants to trade them. I don't think it has anything to do with their contracts. Kyle Farnsworth got 3/$17 last year. 3/10 is the going rate for good relievers. Again, I think it's up to Hendry if he wants to trade them. ok...well even then..only one is tradeable for sure...not sure which..but one has a NTC. Eyre has the NTC. thank you for clearing that up
  20. Yes. I think we would all rather at least get something. But personally.. I want it to be someone who is ML ready, if they are not already in the Majors.

  23. i agree with you..i will tell you why.... cause the Cubs are STUPID.
  24. I swear to god... if he trades ARam.....he better only do it if ARam agrees to opt out of his contract and come back next year.
  25. yes... thanks for summing up what I said. With the way this team is built 2007 is not going to be great either. I think they should blow this puppy up at all levels of management and make a real run at 2009. no... we need to make a run before that yes... thanks for summing up what I said. With the way this team is built 2007 is not going to be great either. I think they should blow this puppy up at all levels of management and make a real run at 2009. Most of us aren't willing to wait another 3 years. With the payroll the Tribune is supplying the team, there is absolutely no excuse to not be in contention every year. of course theres not.... but they just keep blaming it on not having the right personal Eyre and Howry have multiyear deals... and one has a No Trade Clause. as for the other.. no team would want to pick up a player with more than a year left on his deal... unless the selling team was going to pay most of the contract or the contract was a low price. That is absolutely NOT true. I'm sure there are plenty of teams that are quite interested in Eyre or Howry, whether they have two more years on their contract or none. In fact, the fact that those two have more years on their deals left makes them MORE valuable. not at the price we are paying them... and Hendry wont trade them unless the team they go to picks up their contract in full
