  1. This doesn't apply to Campusano. It's really strange that the Blue Jays took Jason Smith when he was availble as a free agent about a month ago. Has anyone heard any news regarding the chances of Campusano and/or Holdzkom getting returned? It would be nice to have those two back in the system. Houston offered Holdzkom back today (link to thread). Campusano has been good so far for the Tigers (5 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 4 K/3 BB, 1 HBP). For one thing on Campusano, I think there was a reason the Cubs didnt protect Campy and it looks like it came out and the Tigers cant offer him back until his rehab is completed, so he has to go thru the same process next yr and make the the Tigers club or be offered back to the Cubs. As far as Smith goes, the Cubs had no room to protect Smith but outbidded the Blue Jays who did have room n their 40 man, if they liked him that much why didnt they sign him over the Cubs to their 40 man? One would wonder who's running that ship?
  2. The Jackets better figure out how to beat powerhouses like U of Illinois Chicago, Georgia State and Western Carolina before they worry about who gets drafted where!!!
  3. It will be Keith Law from ESPN doing the chair work for the network and you can already book it that the Cubs will have a horrible draft ( according to Law) because Law and Wilken worked in Toronto during Wilkens last few yrs there and its a good bet that they didn't get along, cause Wilken left the Blue Jays shortly after.
  4. I'm curious as to how many scouts were there? just by looking through the crowd for people jotting down notes i counted 28, heh....i also sat out front before the game waiting for my girl to show and counted 20+ going through the pass gate...so my number is probably pretty dead on....so i'm guessing that just about every big league club had a scout present. Well that number should start dropping soon, because he'll be a high pick if not #1 so most of the clubs know they wont have a chance to get him!
  5. If the Cubs and Lou Pa hadnt told sammy to get his haircut he might have thrown 100+ today instead of only 98!!!
  6. I guess Toronto shouldnt have taken Carpenter from New Hampshire and Halladay from Colorado? Lousy picks ey?
  7. I'm curious on how high Wilken really is on these two guys. Well maybe somebody needs to interview Wilken on here? I've never seen anyone interview this guy!
  8. Heard on xm radio that the Cubs sandwich pick at 31st or the very 1st sandwich pick for Juan Pierre has now been flipped flopped with the Nationals for the Cubs signing Soriano. They said the reasoning was that Soriano was ranked an A player and Pierre was ranked a B player. Its funny that for almost 2 months the Cubs had the 31st pick and then MLB changes its mind and the Cubs lose 17 spots in the draft, I guess they should feel lucky getting that high of a pick for Pierre anyways.
  9. anyways we should have a callis or goldstein q and a here. tim do your thing. How about getting Wilken on here and asking him some questions not only about 07 draft but other questions about the Cubs since he's been here?
  10. I think Law and Wilken might have worked in Toronto at the same time and its quite possible those two might not have the same ideas and I wonder if from this point on that the Cubs even thru the Wilken yrs will get a legit ranking because there might be some friction between the both of them.
  11. That was Ceda, if I recall. Actually one of the fans who asked the question. kept saying a player with the name of Cerda, Wilken figured it out and said Ceda and also mentioned that he was acquired in the deal for Walker.
  12. Well I wasnt at the down on the farm segment and I Guess you would have to ask Vance how Wilken spoke, but remember last yr he (Wilken) was with us less than one month and probably didnt have much to share at that time.
  13. Whats little Mel know about baseball, I think zero!!
  14. I think this would significantly decrease his chances to ever sniff the major leagues as a pitcher. Bet you a thousand bucks youll drop that statement tomorrow after lunch^
  15. Well Hendry did say he wanted a closer clubhouse. Well the Big East might have been 5-0 which isnt bad but the state of Florida went 4-0 and has won 9 national tittles and played 17 times for the spot in the last 25 yrs.
  16. Miguel probably made a smart decision going to the Cardinals, with Edmonds getting hurt more often and So Taguchi being 37 yrs old, he might have more ability to play in the big leagues with the Cards, he eventually would have been nice for us to have as 4th/5th outfielder who could play all outfield positions pretty good in about 2 yrs with us, so he probably made the right choice for him, his agent did him well with what he had to work with, he could be like Orlando Palmeiro with a little more thump in his bat.
  17. Wonderful job Cali Raisin, my only bone of contention is how BA ranked Crosby and Kennedy of Mike Young and they Young a token Dh, I might have to challenge them on that, Young was decent at SS defense wise, but people have lost sight that if Orlando Hudson and Boone werent at 2nd base when Young was playing 2nd, Young would have won the gold glove at ss!
  18. You think thee other 29 clubs know about these players, it sounds like only the Giants are on these players, (lol)
  19. Baseball America and all the scouts they talked to. But, wild about him? I guess I missed those reports. I remember people saying he's a nice prospect and all, but I don't remember anybody going gaga. Seven managers of the Northwest League thought enough of him to vote him the #1 prospect in their league and according to reports from instructional league scouts thought he had even got better from the summer and his own people (managers, coaches, etc), so maybe he's on the rise.
  20. Potential to be the #1 overall pick in the 2008 draft. any chance he enters early into this one? He can't. Well technically he could, if he were to dropout of South Carolina and enter a junior college in the next few days which is very doubtful.
  21. Toronto Sun sports by Bob Elliott. http://www.torontosun.com/Sports/Baseball/2006/12/30/3078423-sun.html Shoot me if it doesnt work!
  22. http://www.torontosun.com/sports/baseball/2006/12/30/3078423-sun.html I guess this guy had some thoughts on his mind?
  23. Was Ronnie Millsap, Stevie Wonder and Hellen Keller selecting when they took D'alessio over Smoak, you've got to be kidding me! Merry Christmas to Andy, my goodnesss.
  24. Even thou we lost our 2 thru the 4th picks, our draft in 2006 must have been somewhat decent just by the looks of things?
  25. I'll bet there's a good chance you'll get both Campy and Holdzkom back!
