  1. I don't have one now. I never won that category anyways though. Well if you never won it then there was probably no point in keeping Crawford. I'd say good deal, Delgado isn't setting the world on fire, Pujols is. I like it
  2. For a half-season rental of Adam Dunn, that's absurd, especially when the Angels don't neccesarily need Adam Dunn for anything other than giving Guerrero some stress relief on the power. I would guess any big money AL team looking for offense that would trade for Dunn would be more than happy to sign him. true dat
  3. I hope he dominates the league, mainly so my autographed rookie card I pulled out of a pack of SPX will go up in value :D

  5. When did Bocachica get traded, and who for? Last I saw he hit a highlight reel home run for the A's like 3 weeks ago
  6. Why would he be available? Burrell could give you 20-30 hit over .280 and OBP over .380 as well. Pat Burrell has hit .280 twice in his career, and is a career .253 hitter. He also has a career .363OBP and a career .838OPS, including a whopping .787OPS this year. While I don't doubt he can give 20-30HR, he's only had two years where he's hit over 30HR, which coincidentally happened to the be the two years he hit a smidge over .280, and the only years he had 100+RBI, and two of three years he had an OPS over .890. Outside of those years he's failed to achieve an OPS higher than .822. At least Dunn consistently does what he does, and you know what to expect, Burrell is a rollercoaster.
  7. You don't visit here for at least 10 minutes a day? I visit the forums for hours. The front page itself, I haven't been to in like... 3 weeks, and when I was there, I was there to get the forum link and nothing else. These are easily the best Cubs forums far and away on the net and has an awesome community. It'd be even better if it had a main front page area to rival the forums popularity
  8. Pat Burrell is Adam Dunn minus 10-20 home runs and 7-10 stolen bases and he costs more than Dunn does. We need someone like Hawpe. Hawpe can hit 20-25HR, hit over .280, and have an OBP over .380 and isn't a blunder in RF. Hawpe would probably cost more than Dunn though, oddly enough. And if not, then go for Hawpe, if he's available. He's cheap, he's young, and he's better than both Dunn and Burrell overall (and he's left handed. Yay)
  9. Russell Martin runs circles around Michael Barrett. While Barrett has put up decent production numbers, overall he has been mediocre, and definitely does not warrant all-star status. Martin and Molina should be the catchers on the NL all-star team
  10. Because dog-gone-it, they KNOW they can strike out the best hitter in the game!
  11. The Cardinals will still find a way to win the world series. They'll bring Mark Whiten out of retirement and he'll hit 4HR every game for the rest of the year
  12. I think the site could use a major design overhaul all together. With a nice streamlined design that links to the blogs and other news stories and looks somewhat official or news-like, it could become a regular daily visit for everyone on here for at least 10-15 minutes, and also allow the visitors to have comments on each posted item. I only go to the front page when I need a link to the forums on a different computer, otherwise I use the 'ol bookmark.
  13. Don't forget Neal Heaton.... http://a858.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/15/l_f814a51e0bba458efc78d92ebcba0621.jpg Me and my authentic Neal Heaton jersey
  14. I know, but postseason numbers and world series championships shouldn't deter someone from the HOF. Billy Williams made it, and didn't have what one would consider HOF-Lock numbers, nor did he have much postseason experience (7AB). Biggio is a no-brainer if/when he gets 3,000 hits
  15. In the National League this year, Michael Barrett is..... The Good: 1st in HR T-3rd in RBI 5th in R T-6th in H 4th in TB T-4th in BB 4th in SLG 4th in OPS The Bad: 10th in OBP 10th in AVG His Defense as a whole Now yeah, his defense sucks, but despite his low AVG and OBP, his offensive numbers, compared to catchers in the National League, are among the Top 5 in almost every category. While we will joke around saying that some of those stats are meaningless (and they are, in some cases), teams will still look at this. Barrett DOES have value as an offensive catcher. If we could trade Barrett to get a position player who isn't a catcher who is putting up numbers that could match Barrett's, then we could stick in Blanco or Hill or whoever that can play the crap out of that position on D, and not be hurt by the loss of Barrett's bat. Now maybe this spot of my post belongs in a Transactions thread, but regardless... The way I see it the Cubs need either an everyday RF, SS, or pitching (it never hurts to have too much good pitching). Teams that have either A) Awful offensive catchers or B) No decent catchers in their farm system and could use a dose of offense from the catcher position with players we could use/somehow might have a chance to attain include: Baltimore - Hernandez on the DL, and he's hitting for a similar average with less production. Bako is their starter (BAKOOOOO). Only players I assume we'd be interested in are Tejada, Bedard, and maybe Markakis Cincinnati - David Ross is trash this year, and Javier Valentin isn't much better. Dunn is on the block (I still don't want to trade for him), and Griffey is rumored to be as well (would be awesome to have). Colorado - Iannetta and Torrealba for lack of a better word, stink offensively. They won't let go of Tulowitzki, but I recall hearing some Brad Hawpe trade rumors a while back but he'd be tough to get even if he is on the block (and he's the kind of player that would be just what the Cubs need). They also have Hirsh (who is awful this year) and Franklin Morales in the farm system (though I doubt they'd want to give them up) Tampa Bay - Navarro is probably one of the worst offenwive catchers in the game. The backup, Casanova, is doing well, but it's a 4 game sample size, and the other catcher, Josh Paul is on the 60-day DLthe Rays don't have a top catching prospect in their system. Even though he'd probably cost a pitcher or two extra, Carl Crawford would be a nice fit in RF (or move Sori to RF and put Crawford in LF). Granted, the Ray have a ton of offense already, and don't neccesarily need Barrett's bat at the catcher position, sadly. However with Brendan Harris performing well, Ben Zobrist could be had for cheap. He's not performing that well in the minors right now (.255AVG) however he is still patient (.388OBP). Could be a project, and might not have to give up Barrett Washington - Schneider isn't exactly setting the world on fire, and they have no major catchers in their farm system. I remember a hot trade target this offseason was Ryan Church, but the Nationals were asking too much for him. Maybe Barrett would be enough? Just some thoughts. Sorry for wasting time/getting off-topic. if I need to move this to a transactions thread, let me know. Now, 1... 2... 3... CRITICIZE!
  16. Barry Bonds has a .245 career postseason batting average and no world championships. Something tells me he'll eventually get in there
  17. 10-team H2H... Drafted: C Victor Martinez 1B Prince Fielder 2B Ian Kinsler 2B Aramis Ramirez SS Michael Young OF Vladimir Guerrero OF Magglio Ordonez OF Pat Burrell UTIL Mark Teahen BN Adam Laroche BN Russell Martin BN Howie Kendrick BN Ryan Freel BN Troy Tulowitzki BN Alex Gordon SP Johan Santana SP Felix Hernandez RP Mariano Rivera RP Brad Lidge P Chris Young P Kelvim Escobar Apparently I only took 6 pitchers. Weird. After a trade or two and some drops and adds, my team now looks like: C Russell Martin 1B Victor Martinez 2B Ian Kinsler 3B BJ Upton SS Michael Young OF Vladimir Guerrero OF Reggie Willits OF Shane Victorino UTIL Prince Fielder BN Adrian Gonzalez BN Michael Cuddyer BN Johnny Peralta BN Aramis Ramirez (DL) SP Johan Santana SP Felix Hernandez RP Al Reyes RP Mariano Rivera P Rich Hill P Jeremy Accardo P Ian Snell BN Chris Young BN Oliver Perez DL Huston Street DL Rich Harden My pitching was ubeatable the first couple of weeks, then some injuries started happening to them, but then my offense became the best in the league, so it's worked out. In first place. Oh, and I traded Ordonez and Escobar for Huston Street before the season started :x
  18. Yeah, no kidding... glad I dropped Wheeler and picked him up. What the hell is wrong with him? He gets movedo uto f the closer spot and dominates, they put him back in for one game and he screws it up.
  19. I just hope Boib and Len will stop talking about it, it seems like they talk about it every single game now at least twice a game
  20. Biggio's numbers during his prime were sick. 3,000 hits will make anyone a first ballot HOF'er unless he's been caught using roids. Biggio will go in. I also hate the "Small-Market Team" argument. Whether or not you play for a small-market team should not determine whether or not your skills were good enough to make it ot the HOF.
  21. Holy crap, Demp got out of it. How the hell did that happen?
  22. hahaha...man he is not good Actually he is. Just not as a closer apparently. When they took him out of the closer role he was virtually untouchable. They use him tonight for first tiem since first week of season as closer, blown save
  23. Seriously if Dempster gets out of this I'll be very impressed
  24. Um, it is the 9th inning. probably supposed to say non 9th inning save situations... Yup yup
