    so we're going to let a 27 year old pitcher who has a career ERA of 6.00 who has thrown 40 MLB innings the last two seasons stop us from getting jake peavy?

    im pretty sure the fact that OU won't get three possessions in each quarter isn't really saying that ou sucks. it's just saying that the pace of the game is going to be a lot slower than your typical big xii game. in fact, florida had just three games where they had more than eleven possessions the entire game. oklahoma had just two games where they had eleven or fewer possessions the entire game and five games where they had fifteen or more possessions the entire game. basically, the reason OU's offense scored more points was that they got the ball nearly about 20% more than the gators. Oklahoma ran 1036 plays this season, gaining 7.1 yards per play. Florida ran 800 plays this season, gaining 7.2 yards per play. I am going to ignore possessions at the end of halves that were just running the clock out...because well you're just running off excess water there. Florida had 142 possessions this season, in 13 games. Oklahoma had 175 possessions, in 13 games. Florida had games of 7, 9 and 9.

    It's more likely that OU doesn't score three touchdowns all game than it is that OU goes up by three touchdowns at any point.

    Cubs sources stress nothing is imminent. Towers has said that we are a little reluctant at the price tag but he is still optimistic that we eventually will agree on something. Bruce says that the GM's were all in a mandatory conference this morning for awhile so while all of these reports were coming out, the GM's weren't actually talking trades.     Which is why I need cliffnotes and updates. There's a lot of hidden posts. Then why are people screaming and harping and gushing over Peavy, when by all accounts, talks at the best, marginally took a step backward today.

    So let's talk about potential possibilities regarding the national title game. I see only a couple potential outcomes: 1. We realize that the Big XII doesn't play defense, and the pure spread fails in the SEC, Florida wins 41-14. 2. We realize that the SEC doesn't play offense, and Oklahoma can put points up on Florida, Florida or Oklahoma win 45-42 or something. 3. Bradford takes the post-heisman dump, Florida wins 65-14.

    I said it may. I know that's what we've been doing. If the Padres are high on Vitters though, one would think that it could be the other way around.
