  1. Its his entire season as a whole, and everything that has encompassed it. He has brought alot of this on himself and you know that. Declaring you are going to win a Cy Young award and then crapping the bed the 1st 2 months of the season. Then getting into a fight with his own teammate. Then using his contract as an excuse as to why hes pitching bad, and then sign the contract and continue to pitch bad. So what, he's not allowed to have a down season. Are you turning into Dan Duquette on us? (I doubt you even get that reference) Pitchers have down years. Pitchers have down months. Zambrano is human. Well most staff aces dont have down years like hes had, after signing a big ass contract. Incorrect once again. Zambrano never had a contract until August. His struggles earlier in the season have little to do with the contract. Most staff aces DO have down years like the one he's had. You didn't get the reference.
  2. So we are villifying him by wanting him to stop sucking and start pitching like the ace he is? Ya sounds like we are real irrational. you've been villifying him from your very first post. And no one said anything about the fact that wanting him to stop sucking is a bad thing. But that yesterday was beyond that. We are going to have to agree to disagree because you arent going to change my mind that there was nothing wrong with what took place yesterday from the fans. I was just about to say the same thing, because I think yesterday was bushleague and classless. So was his performence... hahahahaha. that's a good one. yea z's all out hustle and zeal and passion for which he plays the game is the complete opposite of bushleague and classless. But I know you need to feel justification for the way he was treated by supposed fans yesterday. I don't care about hustle, Zeal, and Passion. I care about results, and the man isn't getting it done when we need him most. It's really that simple. And this simple fact as you put it doesn't mean jack when it comes to whether or not he will produce over the higher leverage month of september

  4. Keener, get a grip. You may be obsessed with what have you done for me lately,, but doing that off of one month is absurd. you know that.
  5. Maybe for full seasons but his monthly stats are just all over the place, a lot like Zito. Zambrano generally has 2-3 completely dominant best pitcher in baseball type months a year mixed with some pretty average to downright bad months. ERA by month for the past 3 years... 4.31 2.40 5.79 2.11 1.74 4.19 5.35 1.90 1.96 4.15 3.63 4.03 5.77 4.72 2.53 1.38 7.06 Now compare to someone more consistent like Oswalt 3.25 3.20 1.40 2.03 5.81 2.93 2.76 3.49 3.72 3.09 3.38 1.85 3.43 3.29 3.55 4.41 1.14 I can do that too. 6. I'm not discounting that there could be a health issue, but I don't think there is overwhelming evidence that there is one either. If your just going by command as an indication of his health you could have this same dsicussion the past few years. im not saying there is one. im saying that if there's something causing his struggles its going to be his health and command, not his attitude. i do think there's a very high probability that there is a health problem. it can be something so small he doesnt even know about it
  7. This is, once again, wrong. You are saying he's prone to bottoming out more than most pitchers, but you fail to realize over the duration of his first four seasons no starting pitcher was as consistently good as he was. Here in his fifth season he has struggled, so he's always been prone to being bad. When in fact the first four years he WAS ONE of the best in the league. You're saying his struggles are because of his attitude when he's already shown an ability to succeed for four seasons with the same attitude, so it's quite apparent that his attitude have very little to do with his 4.35 ERA. It probably has more to do with the health of his arm, his decrease in velocity this season and his struggling command which is more than likely a byproduct of his lack of arm health. Of course, we can bitch and moan and say it's his attitude, when it's really not a problem and has never been a problem. It's his arm and health or nothing at all - just bad luck. I think many would argue he has shown a lack of command his entire career, as evidenced by his walk totals, especially last year. his command has been worse the last two seasons. last year he survived this year he hasn't. like i said it's either nothing or he's hurt. attitude has little to do with it. i still think its funny that i attacked the signing, got put down for it, now am defending him and get the same backlash. fickle indeed.
  8. that's nice it's still down overall which is all that matters. he wasn't consistently hitting it as often as he did in the past though. i actually think his command shows more about his health than his velocity, well at least as much as

  10. As do all message boards, if not the entire internet. and its better not to be. im not. i know what random fluctuations are and take them as just that.
  11. fick·le (fĭk'əl) pronunciation adj. Characterized by erratic changeableness or instability, especially with regard to affections or attachments; capricious. yep, NSBB falls under this. No he's not fine. If he had a couple of bad outings in a row that might not be a cause for concern. But this has been going on over a month now, both before and after the extension. Things are not fine when your "ace" stinks the first two months of the season and then disappears again during the heat of a pennant race. This is two things: A. A Lie. B. Irrelevant. With respect to A, Zambrano's struggles have actually been going on for less than one calendar month. If I were you, I'd say "wrong" and leave it at that. I'm not. He's given up 7,6,4,5,8 runs in the last 31 days. In only one of those games has he had a WHIP under 1.9 or so. He's had full and terrible month. and the first start was on August 8th. It's not September 8th.
  12. Then what's the point? If he's prone to bottoming out in a game as much as any other pitcher then there's no reason to count his behavior as a negative thing because its not causing any harm -- unless he goes head hunting.

With respect to A, Zambrano's struggles have actually been going on for less than one calendar month. With respect to B, Zambrano's strong June/July and career norms hold more predictive power for the next 60 days than his recent struggles. Pitchers go through rough stretches. Zambrano isn't more prone to them than any other pitcher. His animated behavior does not cause him to meltdown more than other pitchers. All of these myths conjured up by NSBB are just that. Myths.
  14. SI has a partnership with baseball prospectus. Don't be surprised at all.
  15. Zambrano doesn't need to grow up. Just because he runs his mouth and pumps his fist, it doesn't make him immature. I'd rather have someone like him than a passive player. Sure there's a good mix of the two but give me all out passion over all out passive any day of the week.
  16. Zambrano's fine guys. This place is so fickle.
  17. Keep in mind that Trachsel pitching "better" included all of eight strikeouts in thirty-eight innings.
  18. LOL... a nice strong dose of hypocrisy from the self-righteous one. except he's not using r and rbi in the post you're quoting. he's not even talking about offensive production. nice try though. As measures of pitching production, W-L and ERA are as bad or even worse than R and RBI are of offensive production. It's rather sad that you needed to have that explained to you. get your eye out of the zoom on the meph-o-sniper and read the entire post.
  19. This post means nothing because ERA and W/L are horrible stats in judging a pitcher. I like how you conveniently forgot to read the last part of my post where I said "[Trachsel] has walked a lot more batters than he's struck out." A smart person like myself can infer from a low K:BB that they have a terrible FIP and DIPS because I know how to calculate them. So you can shut your mouth and stop taking cheap shots at me. Go practice so you get more than ten innings on a community college baseball team for a full season. LOL... a nice strong dose of hypocrisy from the self-righteous one. typical responses from baseballnumbers and davearm. They both take cheapshots because they've got nothing better to post. Davearm, like baseball before him, also left out the latter half of my quote. In fact he chopped it up just to make his point. What a jerk. Hey Rock Sauce, we're two for two on people who can't read entire posts aren't we?
  20. Marshall is 7-7 with an ERA under 4.00. Trachsel is 6-8 with an ERA over 4.40 and has walked a lot more batters than he's struck out. Let's trade two guys for the latter and demote the former.
  21. It's amazing what happens when you know what you're talking about.
  22. So I think we can all forget the discussion about Big Ten being close to the SEC. LMAO. Michigan.
  23. There's a difference between your two pitches being fastball-change or fastball-curve, and your two pitches being fastball-slider. Exactly. Marmol has the potential to be one of the best closers in the game, why take away from that. Would the Red Sox be a better team with Papelbon being a starter? Yes.
  24. lol 28-14
  25. Typical opening drives for the gators. Drive 1 Kestahn Moore rushes for 5 yards Tim Tebow rushes for 18 yards Tebow passes to Andre Caldwell for 48 yards Jarred Fayson rushes for 8 yards Percy Harvin rushes for 10 yards Tebow rams in for a 1 yard TD run. Drive 2 Moore rushes for 5 yards Harvin rushes for 1 yard Tebow passes to Caldwell for 12 yards Tebow passes to Riley Cooper for a 60 yard TD The Gators rushed for 48 yards, 38 of which came from wide receivers or quarterbacks.
