  1. It's quite possible. Assume a team like OSU plays an average team all season long. There's probably a 10 percent chance they lose a game to them. There's a 35% chance that they lose two games. That's 1 in 3. And the 90% chance of winning is more than likely significantly overstated.
  2. Actually I do. The line of logic (well lack of) does make me laugh. Good point. Since a team beats another 4 games to 3 why rely on that small sample size to determine who wins the world series or one stupid game in the Super Bowl. Hey genius, you may have something there. Its posts like this that make me laugh. That's nice. I'd make a post like that too if I were in your situation. Of course that's usually your type of response, isn't it? You didn't make an argument. You just supported mine. You defended your argument by supporting mine. What do I need to say? You said we should rely more on limited samples because they're all we have. Then you pointed out instances where relying on limited sample sizes has been erroneous (see Cardinals 2006 WS title). You just made my point and defeated your own argument. Thanks.

  4. when the sample size is small it doesnt mean you have to rely on it more. thats about as dumb as a thought as ive ever seen. yes when the sample size is small we should put more stock into it. brilliant!!!!
  5. And Auburn gets more votes than South Florida in the good ole boy poll. The easy answer to this is to eliminate the polls altogether (long overdue) and institute a playoff system. Zero chance of it happening though. This isn't going to produce the best team. It'll produce the most deserving. That's not always the most talented team. It doesn't produce the most deserving either. It produces a winner and the system does it now. what's the difference? both are poor ways.
  6. And Auburn gets more votes than South Florida in the good ole boy poll. Just because USF beat Auburn it doesn't mean USF is a better team. Just because Oregon thrashed Michigan it doesn't mean Oregon is a better team. Just because ... How in the world can you beat this kind of bias? This thing is so rigged it's almost WWF mind boggling. No it's called being smart.
  7. yeah when you beat a team by 32 points on the road, i'd say it pretty clearly shows that you ARE a better team No. It shows you played better then. Even though the order was reversed the point will still stand. Look at the two games FSU and UF played in 1996. One was 56-20 the other was 24-20. Look at 2003 Oklahoma and Kansas State, KSU won 35-7 but it doesn't mean that KSU was a better team.

  10. 1. I thought they weren't eligible. 2. If they were eligible why did they have 0 votes last week? 3. If 1 is true and 2 is not true, then why did the AP change the rules?
  11. im pretty sure we can call busts earlier than that. we wont know who pans out within five years but we know who is a bust.
  12. its gotta make sense to the brain trust of disaster that is known as cubs management.
  13. I like ND, but OH MY. Getting a little ahead of ourselves aren't we ESPN? I think you're missing the joke. what joke!? could it possibly be ndsn?
  14. Did anyone watch Kirby Freeman play? There's no doubt in my mind that Sean Glennon's a better QB than the crap Miami put out there. Miami's offense stinks. VTs isn't very good but it's better than the Canes. The Canes defense isn't nearly the quality that VT's is. VTs is probably one of the best 15 defenses in the country if not one of the top 10. LSU made them look like HS scrubs. LSUs win was much, much, much more impressive than OUs.
  15. Im not so sure Trachsel would be a #3 starter in AAA.
  16. as long as pujols sends my fantasy team to the top, ill be content with these losses. somehow im up 8-1 after the Bush debacle last time out.
  17. Good point. It shows a lack of depth but not an overall bad defense. it shows a lack of experience not really depth. floridas like usc, their third string may be a top 25 team
  18. ive done it a few times to his posts, i didnt think anyone ever noticed.
  19. Florida does look good but I dont think they will be able to beat LSU due to the lack of a good running back. I think tht LSU's defense it to fast to fall for all the trick runs they do with their QB's and WR's. At some point you have to juse be able to put the ball in the hands of a good running back to get you tough yards and i just dont know if they have the ability to do that against a great defense like LSU. You mean, sometimes it's easiest to just put the ball in the hands of a good running back to get tough yards. I think it's pretty hard to say they need it when they won the national championship without it. They also have one, Tim Tebow. Other than third and short, where you run it doesn't make a difference.

I think tht LSU's defense it to fast to fall for all the trick runs they do with their QB's and WR's. At some point you have to juse be able to put the ball in the hands of a good running back to get you tough yards and i just dont know if they have the ability to do that against a great defense like LSU. They beat them last season with their runningbacks combining for 36 yards and ended up outrushing the Tigers. Just because their offensive running game has been highlighted by QBs and WRs the last two seasons, make no mistake - it's been very very effective. Their rushing attack has rushed for 439 yards in two games. A lot of their running game are sweeps and reverses which ought to minimize Glenn Dorsey's impact on the running game.
  21. WVU is better than Cal and Texas. LSU is playing better than anyone. The Gators have looked great their first two games. Tim Tebow has been great pitching the ball around. A QB led the Gators in rushing today and a tight end led them in receiving. Their defense's depth came into question today when Troy moved the ball effortlessly in the second half. That's the biggest question. The offense appears to be considerably more dynamic and explosive than last years.
  22. My lord.....you'd honestly rather have Zambrano on the mound in the 7th when the bases were loaded?
  23. the conference has, what, 4 losses after two weeks? chill out It's not a two week-based opinion. I stated the same things the week before the season started. well don't pin the entire conference on Michigan I'm not. Ohio State got massacred. Michigan matters though. They're near the bottom of the BCS conferences. I don't really think it's debatable.
